Norwegian browser developer Opera, whose colorful CEO threatened to swim from Norway to the U.S. if his company met an early performance milestone, has now won a major deal with Motorola to provide its browser on mobile phone worldwide. The contract is an expansion of an existing deal.
![]() Opera CEO Jon Von Tetzchner Celebrates U.S. Market Success Things come in threes, and this was the third major deal announced over the past week by Opera, joining announcements about contracts to provide ubiquitous browser service with the German T-Mobile and the Chinese ZTE Corp. "That major players like Motorola and T-Mobile choose Opera really says two things. One is that mobile Internet is becoming common and being taken seriously and there Opera is well positioned. The other is that this is a confirmation of the quality of our products," company spokesperson Eskil Sivertsen said. Opera also announced the availability of their browser on the Windows Mobile platform this week. "Originally,
we had not planned to make Opera available on the Windows Mobile
platform, but users kept asking for it because they were disappointed
with the far from satisfactory performance of the browser that came
shipped on their devices," Opera CEO Jon S. von Tetzchner said in a
statement Wednesday. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
