Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Sybase Announces 9th Annual Innovator Awards
Award recipients are Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, Hana Bank of Korea, MobiDM and CommerceTel

PowerBuilder Developer's Journal

Sybase presented its 2009 Innovator Awards to customers that have showcased the most innovative implementations of Sybase technology to manage, analyze and mobilize data. Award recipients are Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, Hana Bank of Korea, MobiDM and CommerceTel.

“We are pleased to recognize these customers who exemplify innovative, forward-looking and effective ways of implementing Sybase technology,” said Dr. Raj Nathan, senior vice president and CMO, Sybase. “These applications of our leading technologies to manage, analyze and mobilize data have not only benefited the business operations that the technology touches, but have also demonstrated the collective trend in enterprise software application.”

2009 Innovator Award Winners

Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA)
SAMA, the central bank of Saudi Arabia, completed a project “SARIE,” linking all commercial banks to the central bank for electronic fund transfers. To provide fast data movement and rapid online transaction processing as well as disaster recovery capabilities, SAMA built a core solution leveraging Sybase Adaptive Server® Enterprise as the core database, and Sybase Replication Server® for data synchronization and disaster recovery.

Hana Bank
Hana Bank of Korea is a leading financial institution in East Asia. For its Next Generation Banking System Project, it implemented Sybase IQ analytics server in its data mart to collect, integrate and analyze dispersed data from a variety of systems. By sharing the common data of each work division, data redundancy is eliminated, and data consistency is maintained by the local store architecture. This architecture enables the bank to work across very large data sets and to make well informed business-critical decisions based on real-time data and accurate analysis. On-demand analysis generated by the data mart significantly increases productivity, and the new banking system provides a flexible infrastructure as the bank continues to expand.

MobiDM
MobiDM, headquartered in the Netherlands, is the first in the world to launch a mobile security solution as a service aptly named, MobiDM. Providing a mobile device management service powered by Sybase Afaria® and SQL Anywhere®, MobiDM is designed to enable enterprises to centrally install, secure and maintain mobile devices. It allows enterprises to automatically manage routine system management tasks, while supporting devices of all major mobile operating systems. MobiDM provides customers with a ready-to-go device management solution, without having to install server infrastructure, thereby accelerating implementation timelines and reducing the cost of mobile deployments.

CommerceTel
U.S.-based CommerceTel is a leading provider of telecommunication services that facilitate audience interaction with television, radio, print, web and outdoor media. Leveraging the Sybase mobile messaging platform in its marketing software, C4®, CommerceTel enables organizations to conduct mobile campaigns that reach individuals in a real-time, personal way at a lower cost. Sybase was chosen for its unrivalled global reach, the ability to effectively deliver SMS and MMS content, and follow-up reporting capabilities. C4 has been implemented successfully in a number of high-profile broadcast and political campaigns throughout 2009.
