Borland CTO Patrick Kerpan to Keynote at EclipseWorld 2005
To Speak at Initial Independent Event for Eclipse Developers

EclipseWorld 2005, produced by BZ Media, is billed as the industry's first independent conference for enterprise software developers, architects and development managers using Eclipse tools and technologies. Now comes word that Borland CTO Patrick Kerpan will be among the keynote presenters. According to the event's organizers, attendees can expect to:

  • Learn how to save money and improve developer productivity with Eclipse
  • Improve team collaboration using Eclipse-based toolsets
  • Go beyond the IDE to understand the wide range of Eclipse technologies
  • Get deep inside Eclipse's open-source architecture
  • Discover the best, most effective Eclipse add-ins and plug-ins
  • Master techniques for building high quality, more secure software
Kerpan brings more than 20 years of software development experience to the role of CTO and joined Borland in 2000 through the acquisition of Bedouin, Inc., a company he founded. Kerpan most recently served as the vice president and general manager of DSP solutions at Borland, where he was instrumental in leading the Borland acquisition of StarBase in 2003.

Before founding Bedouin, Inc., Kerpan was managing director of derivatives technology for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, responsible for derivatives technology worldwide. Before that, he served as executive director of financial engineering for Swiss Bank Corporation, where he was responsible for developing global portfolio management and risk analysis systems. Kerpan also served as lead developer for O'Connor and Associates artificial intelligence group.

Kerpan has been an invited speaker at industry gatherings such as Society for Information Management, Seybold's Distributed Computing Conferences, Comdex, International Association of Financial Engineers, and the Risk Magazine Annual Risk Congress.
