Unlike Chrome, litlOS is focused on creating a new and better web experience for the home, so we don't have the usual browser interface, we have our own innovative UI. In conjunction with easel mode (litl's inverted-V position) and our growing cohort of litl channels (special apps t...

WinMagic Joins Trusted Computing Group
WinMagic has been working independently with the self-encrypting drive manufacturers for over two years

Security Journal on Ulitzer

WinMagic (www.winmagic.com), a full-disk encryption vendor and innovator, today announced that it has joined the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) at the Contributor Level.

WinMagic has been working independently with the self-encrypting drive manufacturers for over two years and is uniquely positioned to provide independent software vendor (ISV) insight directly to the TCG Storage Work Group regarding the Opal standard for self-encrypting hard drives. Joining the TCG will enable WinMagic to serve as a Contributor Advisor on the Board of Directors, Work Groups or Special Committees, and chair Work Groups and Special Committees and the subgroups formed by Work Groups or Special Committees.

Formed in 2003, The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) was developed to develop, define, and promote open, vendor-neutral industry specifications for trusted computing. These include hardware building blocks and software interface specifications across multiple platforms and operating environments. Implementation of these specifications will help manage data and digital identities more securely, protecting them from external software attack and physical theft. TCG specifications can also provide capabilities that can be used for more secure remote access by the user and enable the user’s system to be used as a security token.

Compatible with all editions of Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP, and 2000 as well as Mac and Linux platforms, SecureDoc protects all data stored on desktops, laptops and removable media, such as USB thumb drives, CD/DVDs, and SD cards.

SecureDoc also supports and manages hardware-encrypted disk drives such as the Seagate Momentus FDE and BlackArmor drives as well as the TCG Opal specification drives. This provides organizations with the flexibility to deploy any combination of hardware or software-based encryption – and transition between the two – with full transparency for users and a consistent management interface for administrators. This not only makes it easy to customize data protection to meet any security protocol, but also ‘future-proofs’ the IT security expenditure in SecureDoc.
