Stevie also reportedly called Adobe "lazy." That it could do interesting things but just refuses to and that Apple doesn't support Flash because it's buggy and the chief cause of Mac crashes. Anyway, Flash is going to be superseded by HTML5 for web video and animation, he's quoted as saying.

Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch in a blog retort said, "I don't see this as one replacing the other, certainly not today nor even in the foreseeable future."

"Adobe supports HTML and its evolution," he said, "and we look forward to adding more capabilities to our software around HTML as it evolves. If HTML could reliably do everything Flash does that would certainly save us a lot of effort, but that does not appear to be coming to pass. Even in the case of video, where Flash is enabling over 75% of video on the Web today, the coming HTML video implementations cannot agree on a common format across browsers, so users and content creators would be thrown back to the dark ages of video on the Web with incompatibility issues....The blend of Flash and HTML are best together, enabling anyone to make pragmatic decisions to use these for their strengths to make the best experiences on the web."

HTML5 of course is how Google just snuck its banned Google Voice onto the iPhone. Flash is currently used on 85% of the top web sites and on an estimated 98% of the computers on the web and on all smartphones except Apple's. When the new iPad goes to a site using Flash, it shows empty spaces.
