Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

VisionShare® to Demonstrate Meaningful Use Exchange Compliance at HIMSS10 Conference in Atlanta

VisionShare, one of the nation’s largest and most secure health information exchanges for administrative and clinical transactions, will provide HIMSS10 Conference attendees in Atlanta with four unique compliance demonstrations relevant to the new federal Meaningful Use requirements.

HIMSS10 (http://www.himssconference.org) is one of America’s premier annual health information technology conferences. VisionShare will walk attendees through its Secure Exchange Platform, currently utilized by more than half the nation’s hospitals. The platform can be immediately implemented for cross-enterprise health information exchange such as insurance eligibility checking, insurance claims submission, and for exchanging clinical information including diagnostic results and public health reports.

New federal rules governing meaningful use of health information technology have been established – and $17 billion in stimulus funds are available to those who comply with increasingly tough requirements between 2011 and 2015. “We want healthcare organizations, health information exchanges, government agencies and healthcare technology providers to understand how quickly and easily they can leverage their existing systems for exchange using the VisionShare platform,” explains VisionShare President & CEO John Feikema. “Whether organizations want to operate an exchange or simply become part of one, our direct connections across the country will help achieve secure exchange and meaningful results faster.”

Feikema also noted that today VisionShare is launching a “Meaningful Exchange” blog - http://www.visionshareinc.com/blog - containing insights on healthcare reform, valuable updates and meaningful use commentary from the company’s Vice President of Product Management, Paul Tuten, Ph.D., and other VisionShare subject matter experts. “This is something everyone with an interest in meaningful use will want to tap into,” he said.

VisionShare also recently made connectivity to the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) and state and community-based Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) available to its customers.

The Meaningful Use demonstrations, which will be available at VisionShare booth number 863, include:

Clinical Information Exchange and Public Health Reporting: Push or send information

VisionShare will demonstrate how providers can push – or transfer patient’s medical information between locations – in a simple, secure way. HIMSS attendees will see how the VisionShare platform enables direct document exchange between EHRs, PHRs and other healthcare IT systems.

Clinical Information Exchange: Publish and pull/receive information

VisionShare will show a complete circle of information exchange between a group of facilities and organizations accessing the platform for different pieces of information. Attendees will see how “exchange partners” in the group have the ability to publish information to a registry including patient information, lab results, disease reports and more. Other exchange partners can then search and pull relevant clinical data into their own systems as needed. These exchange interactions are logged in a traceable record of information about a patient within a given health information exchange.

Administrative Information Exchange: Insurance eligibility transactions

VisionShare will demonstrate how providers may use its platform for checking a patient’s insurance eligibility. Eligibility requests are enabled by the provider using either a web-based portal or through a workflow-integrated solution that takes advantage of the company’s Secure Exchange Application Programming Interface (SEAPI). The VisionShare platform ensures these requests are securely delivered to the appropriate payer and that the results are delivered quickly to the requesting provider.

Administrative Information Exchange: Claims transactions

VisionShare will demonstrate how providers can use its platform to submit insurance claims and receive remittance advice from healthplan payers. VisionShare offers multiple delivery options including a server implementation, web-based portal or a Secure Exchange API that can be integrated into existing systems. The company’s platform ensures these claims are delivered to the correct payer and that the response files are delivered to the requesting provider.

More information is available at www.visionshareinc.com/HIMSS. Those interested in scheduling a private demonstration with VisionShare at the HIMSS conference may do so on the Web site or by calling 612.277.1421.
