In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. Appistry Announces Support for .NET Framework and Participation in VSIP Program
.NET Framework Support in Appistry EAF to Offer Added Scalability, Dependability and Flexibility to Companies Deploying Mission-

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Appistry, a pioneer and leading provider of application fabric software, today announced its support for the Microsoft .NET Framework in its flagship product Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric (Appistry EAF). In addition, Appistry announced its participation in the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) program.

Parties interested in learning more about using Appistry EAF together with the .NET Framework are invited to download a white paper and register to attend a free webinar by visiting the Appistry web site at http://www.appistry.com/ .

Appistry EAF for Windows Now Includes .NET Framework Support

The new functionality will enable organizations deploying .NET Framework- based applications to capitalize on the dependability, scalability and operational simplicity offered by Appistry's application fabric environment.

Appistry EAF now offers the following features, which will be demonstrated at the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference 2005, September 13th through September 16th at booth # 218:

-- .NET Native Tasks The .NET Native Tasks feature expands Appistry EAF task support to include support for native .NET Framework-based components. This allows developers to write fabric-enabled applications using the .NET Framework-based languages of their choice and leverage their knowledge of the rich API offered by the .NET Framework. Support for the .NET Framework has been implemented by hosting the Common Language Runtime, or CLR. -- .NET Client API The .NET Client API allows managed applications external to the application fabric to be natively and easily integrated with any of the applications running within the Appistry EAF environment.

"To keep costs down and to leverage modern technologies such as Web services," said Massimo Pezzini, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner, "organizations are increasingly turning to commodity platforms such as Wintel and Lintel for their business critical applications. Software infrastructures capable of providing extreme reliability, availability and scalability on these platforms will be increasingly adopted by users looking for competitive advantage and flexibility."

"As companies like ours increasingly use .NET to build mission-critical applications, attributes like scalability and reliability become key concerns," said Gerry Imhoff, corporate vice president, director global infrastructure services at Maritz Inc. "We're excited about what Appistry EAF offers -- the ability to provide these attributes at the application level, without requiring expensive hardware, complex development techniques or burdensome operational schemes."

Appistry Joins VSIP

In joining the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) program, Appistry extends its commitment to developer productivity to those developers building on top of the .NET Framework. Appistry's participation in the program will facilitate further development of tools and methodologies for providing tighter integration between Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

"With the introduction of support for the .NET Framework, Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric makes it easier for our common customers to build highly scalable and extremely reliable applications without resorting to expensive hardware," said Nick Abbott, group manager of the .NET Developer Product Management Group at Microsoft Corp. "We're pleased that Appistry has made its product available to the Microsoft developer community and made the even deeper commitment of becoming a member of the VSIP program."

"Appistry EAF provides application-level fault tolerance which delivers extraordinary dependability while unlocking significant savings on hardware acquisition as well as on operational and application development costs," said Kevin Haar, Appistry CEO. "We're excited to bring these capabilities to Microsoft developers both through the product support announced today and through our new relationship with Microsoft. We are confident that organizations that choose to build .NET Framework-based applications using Appistry's product will achieve a true competitive advantage."

Demonstration at Booth # 218

PDC attendees and media may visit Appistry at Booth # 218 in the Expo Hall for a full demonstration of Appistry EAF including the new .NET features. The demonstration application was written in C# using Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 and .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2 and uses the SQL Server June 2005 Community Technology Preview.

Availability

Appistry EAF 2.3 for Windows with .NET platform support will be available on September 30, 2005 directly through Appistry, or via its network of system integrator and reseller partners, including Hewlett-Packard.
