Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Nuvon Extends Its VEGA Platform to Bring True Mobility to Point of Care: The IDM-MG 1000

San Francisco-based Nuvon, Inc. (www.nuvon.com), a provider of next generation BMDI (biomedical device interoperability) solutions, announces the introduction of the IDM-MG 1000, extending Nuvon’s biomedical device interoperability capabilities by providing the first truly mobile and portable solution to collect and present critical biomedical device data anywhere. The IDM-MG 1000 enables both patients and devices to be truly mobile while transmitting valuable biomedical device data in a fully secure environment wherever the patient or the clinician may be located.

“The IDM-MG 1000 solves three critical problems that clinicians face every day: how to get access to patient data, regardless of where the patient is; how to be sure the patient is positively identified; and how to get the data wherever the clinician is,” said Cathleen Asch, Nuvon president and CEO. “As a result, healthcare providers can make better, faster decisions, they don’t waste time trying to figure out the technology, and the entire process fits into their workflow. Plus, the data is automatically populated to the electronic medical record, eliminating the need for manual data entry.”

The IDM-MG 1000 is the most recent addition to the Nuvon VEGA platform and delivers Nuvon’s clinical workflow enhancing technology in a truly mobile format. As with all Nuvon appliances, the IDM-MG 1000 provides automated device identification achieved through auto discovery and auto configuration features, thus enhancing and simplifying the clinician’s workflow.

In addition to its mobile functionality, the IDM-MG 1000 has built in capabilities that make positive patient identification (PPI) a more efficient process. Connected to a biomedical device, the IDM-MG 1000 utilizes standard and proven technologies, including an integrated barcode reader, to communicate data through the VEGA platform to the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR), CIS, or to whatever output destination is selected.

Nuvon will be exhibiting at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting held in Atlanta, Georgia, March 1-4, in booth 2815.
