Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

StrongMail Systems Appoints Founding Editor of WLDJ as Chief Technology Officer
"E-Mail is the Killer App of the Internet," Says Newly Appointed Peter Zadrozny, "But It's a 30 Year-old Technology"

“While e-mail is the killer-app of the Internet, it is unfortunate that the technology that supports it dates back over 30 years and has progressed little since,” noted Peter Zadrozny, as it was announced by StrongMail Systems that Zadrozny has been appointed the company's CTO, in which role, he will be responsible for driving and evangelizing StrongMail System’s technology strategy and developing strategic relationships with key technology partners.

“E-mail communication is an integral part of the processes on which businesses depend today," said Zadrozny. "StrongMail Systems is by far the leader in helping businesses optimize their use of this mission-critical channel. I am delighted to join the company, as I share their commitment to advancing a new era of technology that will forever change the way businesses communicate."

“Peter is a widely respected industry veteran and brings deep, global experience to the position of chief technology officer,” said Frank Addante, founder of StrongMail Systems. “His demonstrated leadership in the technology arena will be central to accelerating StrongMail System’s business goals for product development and innovation to meet rapidly evolving market demands."

Zadrozny has been in the computer industry since 1976 when he started working with the UNIX operating system. Since then he has been actively involved in technical solutions architecture, product management, product marketing, systems integration, software development and computer operations. He is the author of the book J2EE Performance Testing, co-author of  Professional J2EE Programming with BEA WebLogic Server and founding editor of “WebLogic Developer’s Journal” magazine (today titled WLDJ).

Zadrozny joins StrongMail Systems from Oracle, where he was VP and chief evangelist for its Java application server. Prior to joining Oracle, he served as chief technologist of BEA Systems for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He also launched WebLogic Inc.’s operations in Europe in 1998, after serving in various executive and technical roles for companies such as Macromedia, McKesson, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Petroleos de Venezuela and Sun Microsystems, for whom he established operations in Mexico.
