Industry News SYS-CON.TV Webcast: Bringing "The Open Source Advantage" to the Enterprise
Andy Astor, CEO, EnterpriseDB and Denis Lussier, CTO, EnterpriseDB Guest in Our "Friday Lunch" Series

EnterpriseDB delivers an enterprise-class database, based on time-tested open source, which is broadly compatible with Oracle-based applications, and which is robust, reliable and scalable.
In the webcast, Astor and Lussier covered how their company's enterprise-class RDBMS is based on the PostgreSQL database, which EnterpriseDB has commercialized - in an IT play that is going to be seen more and more frequently now. Headquartered in Edison, New Jersey, with development centers in New Jersey and Islamabad, EnterpriseDB is aiming at the market that it deems exists between the two extremes currently available in the database world: an expensive, complex, high-end DB from Oracle, IBM, or Microsoft or a less expensive open source solution that's far less expensive but not sufficiently strong for traditional IT applications, such as online transaction processing (OLTP). "Most customers simply want a high-quality database at a fair price," Astor said in his Webcast. The archived version of the Webcast can be viewed here: http://webcast.sys-con.com/read/146049.htm.
