Jim Liddle's Symbian Blog: Opera Releases Development Platform

Opera purports to enable true web applications to be developed that have access to the phone's functionality through the Opera Platform DOM interface (provided by the Application Player) and can communicate with servers using XMLHttpRequest. The Opera Platform SDK  is currently available for Symbian OS phones with S60, and is free.

See here for more details.

Opera Mini Midlet Web Browser updated to V1.1

Get the MIDP2 jar here or the JAD link here
For a version specific to a phone go here

Instead of requiring the phone to process Web pages, Opera Mini uses a remote server to pre-process the page before sending it to the phone. This makes Opera Mini™ perfect for phones with very low resources, or low bandwidth connections. Opera Mini™ offers the same speed and usability as the renowned Opera mobile browser, and uses Opera`s Small Screen Rendering™ technology to provide access to the Web. It has all the features expected of a browser, and more, such as bookmarks, browsing history, and ability to split large pages into smaller sections for faster browsing.
