In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Environmental Tectonics Corporation Announces the Successful Completion of Onsite Acceptance Testing and Commissioning of the Fi

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental Tectonics Corporation ("ETC" or the "Company") today announced the successful completion of onsite acceptance testing and commissioning of the first Authentic Tactical Flight Simulator (ATFS-400). The acceptance testing resulted in the successful completion of more than 150 specific tests and man rating to verify the ATFS-400's safety, performance and reliability.

ETC developed and produced the ATFS-400 for a Southeast Asia customer, a project that has produced the world's first Authentic Tactical Flight Simulator. The ATFS-400 combines the latest available flight simulation technology to fully support tactical flight training. This technology includes interchangeable high fidelity aircraft specific cockpits, offensive and defensive mission systems, realistic wide field of view visual displays, and virtual battle space. Additionally, the ATFS-400 features proprietary ETC technology of G-pointing that provides the pilot with the same sustained G forces as experienced during actual combat maneuvering.

ETC's breakthrough technology allows a pilot to hone critical air combat skills in a safe and economical environment at 1/28th the cost and two times more efficient than flying in the aircraft. Savings generated by the ATFS-400 include reduced fuel consumption, reduced aircraft loss, less aircraft wear, and lowered accident rates since the pilot can rehearse the aircraft mission in the ATFS-400 before the actual flight.

The commissioning of the ATFS-400 represents a benchmark in tactical flight simulation fidelity. No other ground-based simulator can give the pilot the kind of realistic experience that the ATFS-400 provides. Over 150 experienced fighter pilots have "flown" the ATFS-400 to date and the consensus is that it is the most authentic simulator they have had the opportunity to fly.

ETC is the world's leading high performance centrifuge manufacturer and has the unique capability to build and test our centrifuge-based training systems in our manufacturing plant located in Southampton, Pennsylvania. William F. Mitchell, ETC's President and CEO, commented, "ETC is proud to have worked with our customer to create the most advanced world class tactical flight training center. ETC continues to advance our Authentic Tactical Flight Simulation technology as we build the next generation ATFS-400, which will be operational in January 2007. 'Seeing is believing.' We invite all aviation training professionals to visit ETC and experience the ATFS-400, the most advanced tactical flight simulator in the world."

ETC designs, develops, installs and maintains aircrew training systems, public entertainment systems, process simulation systems (sterilization and environmental), clinical hyperbaric systems, environmental testing and simulation systems, and related products for domestic and international customers.
