Nam Tai Electronics, Inc. Announces Hitachi Maxell as New Customer

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nam Tai Electronics, Inc. ("Nam Tai" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has received a new customer order from Hitachi Maxell, Ltd. ("Hitachi Maxell"), the technology leader in data storage and backup tape, to manufacture digital pens.

Hitachi Maxell's digital pen is a completely new IT device that converts analog information such as handwritten characters and drawings into digital information while enabling an interface with other IT devices. The digital pen can capture data written on special paper, and then store the digital data in the memory of the digital pen. The information stored in memory can easily be transferred to personal computers or other IT devices, such as mobile phones via a Bluetooth or USB interface, and accessed anytime.

Nam Tai is very excited to be granted an opportunity to build this sophisticated digital pen for Hitachi Maxell which has features different from those of the text reading pen that it manufactured for Anoto Group. The Company is also pleased that Nam Tai is able to broaden its product scope by using its optical technology in different product segments. This shows that Nam Tai's strong manufacturing technology and capability are once again being recognized by global customers. Coupled with the global outsourcing trend in the electronic industry and its aggressive marketing strategies, the Company plans to continue capturing additional business opportunities and further enlarging its customer base.
