Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. Metalogix Announces Release of Content Manager for SharePoint With Powerful Capabilities to Manage, Classify and Maximize SharePoint Content
New Product Series to Enhance the Use and Performance of Rapidly Growing SharePoint Environments

WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 05/08/12 -- Metalogix Software, the trusted provider of content lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange® and Cloud platforms, today announced the general release of Metalogix Content Manager for SharePoint. The new solution, developed internally by Metalogix, addresses the need to ease usability and productivity associated with SharePoint adoption by making content easier to find and organize.

There has been more content developed and stored in SharePoint in the past year than in the previous five years combined as adoption has grown to more than 135 million licenses. A recent IDC Group report found that the amount of digital content created doubles every two years and currently stands at more than 1.8 zetabytes, and is expected to reach 35 zetabytes by 2020. Because more than 85 percent of organizations have already chosen SharePoint as their ideal Enterprise Content Management platform, Metalogix is focused on improving the use and performance of SharePoint with solutions that can intuitively manage more content with reduced storage and human capital.

"Metalogix set out to develop a product that met the operational imperative for organizations to manage and use their growing SharePoint content more efficiently at the knowledge worker level and reduce the infrastructure management costs associated with SharePoint sprawl," said Steven Murphy, CEO, Metalogix.

With Content Manager for SharePoint, Metalogix delivers the foundation of a content management suite that employs a ribbon-based, intuitive solution for administrators and end users. By implementing the solution, organizations can increase adoption and make content easier to find through intuitive bulk classification and metadata tagging of batches of existing content or files being uploaded via standard SharePoint interfaces. Content Manager for SharePoint empowers end users and gives organizations the ability to take advantage of advanced SharePoint 2010 features, such as taxonomy and term stores, to ensure content is classified and easy to find via search.

To maximize productivity, end users need to quickly find and manage their content in SharePoint, but the out-of-the-box functionality does not provide for simple functions, such as applying metadata across multiple items to simplify search or reorganize content due to changing business needs. With Content Manager for SharePoint, Metalogix has developed a solution that facilitates the continual management of business-critical content to improve the use of SharePoint 2010. Organizations with rapidly expanding SharePoint environments can leverage Content Manager for SharePoint to help drive all aspects of the content lifecycle including retention policies, security and storage requirements.

The new product increases SharePoint adoption by empowering end users to simply and quickly add metadata, see terms from the Term Store and apply those terms to optimize the use of the organization's consistent metadata. End users can concurrently upload and tag many items to streamline the process of uploading business-critical content into SharePoint 2010.

"This breakthrough product boosts adoption and productivity by providing the ability to classify, manage and maximize SharePoint content," said Murphy. "Content Manager for SharePoint is an excellent addition to our suite of content lifecycle management solutions that help organizations enhance the use and performance of their SharePoint platform investment."
