Original Productions Appoints Philip Segal As Chief Executive Officer & Executive Producer And Jeff Conroy As President & Executive Producer

BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy® Award-winning Original Productions, (OP) has promoted two of its key experienced creative production executives: Philip Segal has been named CEO & Executive Producer with Jeff Conroy appointed President and Executive Producer. Segal replaces Thom Beers, recently appointed CEO of OP parent company FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) and Original Productions' Chairman. The prolific company produces powerhouse series including Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers, Storage Wars, Ax Men, and Bering Sea Gold.

"This is a seamless transition for Original Productions. Both Phil Segal and Jeff Conroy have been a driving force for nearly ten years and share my creative know how and business vision to lead Original into the future. There are some very clear opportunities for Original Productions in scripted and unscripted programming in the current market environment, and Phil and Jeff are the perfect people to lead the team and continue to deliver the ground breaking content we're known for," said Thom Beers, CEO of FMNA and Chairman of Original Productions.

The Segal Conroy Team
"Thom's confidence in us to run the company is truly an honor," said Philip Segal, CEO & EP of Original Productions. "Jeff Conroy and I have partnered successfully the past seven years at OP, complementing our mutual creative and business approaches. We've expanded the signature of Original Productions which will lead us to OP's next great evolution."

"Phil and I have been extremely fortunate to collaborate on what has become some of America's highest rated television series. This is a smooth transition for us and our team at Original Productions," said Jeff Conroy, President & EP at Original Productions.

Original Productions currently has 14 series airing on major cable television networks including multiple seasons of ratings blockbusters Deadliest Catch, Bering Sea Gold, and Bering Sea Gold: Under the Ice on Discovery; Storage Wars, Storage Wars: Texas, and American Hoggers on A&E Network; and Ice Road Truckers and Ax Men on History.

Philip D. Segal joined Original Productions in 2005 as President and EP. He had operating responsibility for Original Productions' thousands of hours of original programming. Segal guided integrating business, creative development and field production and post-production entities for all scripted and non-scripted programming. Prior to joining Original Productions, Segal spent three years as EVP of Bunim-Murray Productions and as SVP of Programming and Production for  Tribune Entertainment. From 1990 to 1996, Segal was EVP of Amblin Television at Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment.

Jeff Conroy joined the Original Productions team in 2001, was promoted to VP Programming in 2007, and EVP Programming in 2011. He is the Executive Producer of the multi-Emmy® Award-winning Deadliest Catch which has been honored as the 2011 Best Reality Program. Early in his tenure at Original Productions, Conroy played a leading role in developing Monster Garage, a five season staple on Discovery, serving as Supervising Producer.
