Adele has the Snooze Factor-As She Claims Number One Position in the UK's 2012 Kip Charts

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 11/22/12 -- Soul, rock and blues singer Adele, alternative rock band Coldplay and the indie group Snow Patrol are sending Britons to the land of nod, according to findings from a new kip report out today.

The sleep study conducted by the budget hotel chain Travelodge surveyed 2,000 adults to investigate which musicians Britons are tuning into at bedtime to help aid a restful night's sleep.

The 2012 'Kip Charts' revealed Tottenham born, Grammy award singer and song writer, Adele is the nation's favourite 'snoozician'. Adele's award winning songs such as 'Someone Like You', 'Chasing Pavements' and the latest Bond theme tune 'Skyfall' are amongst the nation's favourite bedtime tunes which helps them to relax and nod off.

Second place was claimed by previous winners Coldplay, proving Chris Martin still has the snooze factor with his monotonous, meditative melodies for lulling Britons into slumber. (Coldplay reached number one in the 2008 and 2010 'Kip Charts').

Third place in this year's rundown was awarded to the Scottish and Irish indie boy band Snow who many Britons believe are the most boring band in the UK.

The nation voted velvet voiced soul legend, the late Barry White, as their fourth favourite bedtime 'snoozician'.

In fifth place and making their debut in the charts is One Direction - the hottest British boy band on the block whose members are adored by females worldwide. Their single 'What Makes You Beautiful' was the biggest pre-order in Sony single history.

Listed below is the 2012 top 10 'Kip Chart' illustrating the most popular 'snoozicians' who are singing the nation to sleep every night:

The study also explored the nation's bedtime musical habits and key findings revealed 84% of Britons reported listening to music helps aid a good night's sleep.

Fifteen per cent of adults stated they get a much better night's sleep if they have listened to music before drifting off. Whilst 13% of Britons claimed they have nice dreams when they fall asleep listening to music.

A quarter of adults surveyed reported they fall asleep listening to their iPod and they have a specific sleep inducing melody file.

Twenty per cent of adults reported they love listening to classical music at bedtime, with the most popular sleep inducing composers being Mozart, Beethoven and Bach.

Stevie Williams, Sleep Expert from the Edinburgh Sleep Centre said: "Results from various sleep studies undertaken with a variety of male and female groups, has indicated that listening to soft, relaxing music at bedtime leads to a number of different benefits to a night's sleep."

"These benefits include a longer sleep duration period, fewer night time awakenings and shortening of the time it takes to fall asleep."

Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge Spokeswoman said: "In today's hectic fast-paced world, stress is the number one trigger for keeping three quarters of Britons awake at night. Therefore it's no surprise that eight out of 10 Britons rely on music to help them nod off."

"Studies from around the world have highlighted that listening to music does relax you. After a long stressful day it's essential that you de-stress to aid sleep and listening to music will help focus your attention and assist your body and mind to relax."
