Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) Launches Factual Division and Announces David Lyle, CEO National Geographic Channels, as Keynote Speaker

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/12 -- Today the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) announced its expansion into factual entertainment and formats with the launch of a factual division. The new division will be overseen by AIDC Executive Director Joost den Hartog and Market and International Relationships Manager Caroline Man.

AIDC also announced that David Lyle, CEO National Geographic Channels, will begin the 2013 Market and Conference and deliver the Keynote Address. David's keynote will highlight the vibrant and healthy state of the factual content industry.

Joost den Hartog, Director of AIDC Ltd, said "We are over the moon that David Lyle has agreed to deliver the 2013 AIDC Keynote. David is a highly celebrated television executive with a great track record in Australia and overseas. David's Keynote coincides with AIDC's expansion into broader factual content genres and highlights AIDC's ambition to stimulate Australian."

David Lyle is responsible for the overall supervision of the Nat Geo channels -- which include the National Geographic Channel (NGC), Nat Geo WILD and Nat Geo Mundo -- owned jointly by the Fox Networks Group and the National Geographic Society. Lyle worked at Fox since 2005. There, he was most recently president of Fox Look, a unit specializing in the international licensing and production of reality formats, and the Fox Reality Channel. He held senior executive positions at Fremantle Media (where he helped launch "American Idol"), Pearson Television and Australia's Nine Network. Lyle was an exploration geologist before making a career switch into television as a researcher, writer and producer.

David Lyle, CEO National Geographic Channels, said, "I am delighted to talk at AIDC in Adelaide about the world of unscripted television. From one-off specials and documentaries, to factual entertainment series, it is the most vibrant and rapidly changing part of the TV landscape, and one of the most lucrative."

AIDC has also secured participation from German media holding, 'ProSiebenSat1,' Dutch format agency, 'Absolutely Independent' and 'The Nine Network' of Australia for its new factual market program.
