BEA Systems has announced the general availability of WebLogic Portal 9.2, WebLogic Server 9.2 and BEA Workshop for WebLogic 9.2.
“The BEA WebLogic product family continues to lead the market with excellent growth and innovation in the market,” said Wai Wong (pictured), executive vice president, BEA Systems, Inc. “The new releases of WebLogic Portal, WebLogic Server and Workshop for WebLogic are designed to accelerate the service-driven enterprise by helping to enable IT to simplify and unify the development and deployment of enterprise assets.
"In particular," Wong said, "we’re driving industry innovation with Weblogic Portal 9.2 by massively scaling our administration tools to meet large-scale application demands and improving flexibility for federated applications, helping enterprises further support Service-Oriented Architecture aggregation models and strengthen their enterprise architecture. As a result, BEA can help enterprises to rapidly evolve into a shared services environment so that they can deliver faster time-to-value, ultimately driving business value and competitive advantage.”
BEA WebLogic Portal 9.2 is a JEE-based enterprise portal server that is designed to help simplify the production and management of custom service-oriented portals.
Among new tooling, federation and community enhancements in WebLogic Portal 9.2 are new dynamic, adaptive user interface capabilities with rich granular features such as enhancements for AJAX support and market-leading support for Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP). Combined, the upgraded portal is designed to provide greater competitive advantage with increased flexibility to help adapt to business changes and richer more responsive user interfaces.
The enhancements included in WebLogic Portal 9.2 are: •Standards-based portlet federation, based upon the WSRP standard, with support for syndication of portal books and pages, personalized delivery, performance optimization and service lifecycle governance. •A new community framework, as part of portal business services that is designed to simplify portal membership, management, and end user production of community portals. •Portal lifecycle management capabilities including the new release of BEA Workshop for WebLogic which provides an Eclipse-based development environment for Java, portal, Web, and service-oriented applications. Also, portal propagation is included to help simplify the IT management for moving portals through staging from development to production. •Upgrade wizards are designed to allow customers to upgrade the portal domain from 6.1, 7.0, 8.1 and WebLogic Portal 8.1.4 and 8.1.5 portal applications.
