TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/11/12 -- "Springsteen," Eric Church's #1 platinum single, co-written by ole's Ryan Tyndell, which is the #1 song of 2012 on the Mediabase country chart, continues its extraordinary run of success as it earns two Grammy Award nominations in the prestigious Best Country Song category as well as Best Country Solo Performance. The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be presented on February 10, 2013.
"Springsteen," which was named Song of the Year at the recent American Country Awards (ACAs), had its beginnings as one of two songs written on the ole Bus during the inaugural run of the ole "Write Where U R Tour" last year as ole writer Ryan Tyndell was given the opportunity to write with fast-rising country star, Eric Church, while Church was out on tour. It was the natural progression of Tyndell's development as a writer/producer, overseen by ole GM Nashville Creative Arthur Buenahora, who signed Tyndell to the company in the spring of 2010.
"I knew we had something magic the first day I heard the song," says Gilles Godard, Chief Creative Officer at ole, which earned its first Grammy Award in 2009 in the Best Country category for Taylor Swift's "White Horse," co-written by ole legacy writer, Liz Rose. "Some songs are obvious hits and this was one that, to our ears, fit that bill. Even John Ozier, Head of A & R at Curb Records, called and said, "You have a hit on your hands! My daughter gets in the car every morning and asks for the 'Wo Wo' song ('Springsteen's' anthem chant) and, when it ends, she says, 'Again!'"
"When 'Springsteen' came out, there was an immediate buzz about that song," recalls Tyndell. "Before it was even a single, Rolling Stone named it one of the year's 50 best songs and it wasn't even released until February of the following year."
"Springsteen" recently earned its co-writers Ryan Tyndell, Eric Church and Jeff Hyde an award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) as one of "The 10 Songs I Wish I'd Written." It most recently helped Church's third studio album Chief, Executive-Produced by ole's Arthur Buenahora, win the CMA Album of the Year Award, debut at #1 on the Billboard 200, Top Country Album and Top Digital Album charts, go to #1 on Canada's Top Selling Country Album chart, earn a Grammy nomination in 2011 for Best Country Album and achieve platinum certification.
