The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

CareCloud Appoints John J. Walsh as Chief Technology Officer

CareCloud, a leading provider of cloud-based practice management, EHR, revenue cycle management and medical billing software and services, today announced that it has hired John J. Walsh as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Mr. Walsh brings more than 20 years of management and product development experience, having built information technology and engineering teams that deliver market-leading enterprise software and cloud-based solutions. He will join CareCloud as a member of its executive leadership team, responsible for managing the company’s overall information technology, network security, and engineering organization in Miami, while also expanding its Boston footprint. Mr. Walsh will report to Albert Santalo, CareCloud’s Chairman and CEO, and be based in Boston.

Prior to joining CareCloud, Mr. Walsh served as Senior Vice President, Engineering and Operations for Constant Contact®, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTCT), a leading online marketing company offering email, social media, survey and event marketing tools. Assuming his role in October 2008, Mr. Walsh was a member of the company’s executive team and oversaw all aspects of engineering and cloud-computing operations for Constant Contact as it emerged as the leading provider of online marketing tools to small businesses and organizations. Through his teams’ efforts, the Constant Contact platform expanded to support over 500,000 customers worldwide, including an extensive network of consultants/resellers, technology providers, franchises, and national associations.

“John brings to CareCloud an outstanding track record of leadership and results when it comes to building and scaling world-class engineering teams and IT infrastructure through all stages of software company growth,” said Mr. Santalo. “In the past year, CareCloud has experienced accelerating demand for our solutions from medical practices. With this comes the need to scale a platform that supports tremendous operational growth while also executing on our larger vision of creating healthcare’s first true digital ecosystem. We are thrilled to have John join CareCloud as our new CTO as we enter into this next phase of our evolution and lead the drive of cloud-computing into the healthcare industry.”

“After decades of building teams to develop and support enterprise software across various industries, I could not be more excited to join CareCloud as its cloud-based software and service offerings positively transform how healthcare providers can run their practices and support patient care,” said Mr. Walsh. “I cannot think of an industry in greater need of innovation and modern technology adoption than healthcare. With its flexible design and architecture, CareCloud’s platform is extremely well-positioned in the marketplace and scaling our engineering and IT capabilities is paramount to the company’s continued success.”

Before Constant Contact, Mr. Walsh was Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Ecora Software, Inc., a configuration auditing and compliance reporting software company, from October 2006 to September 2008. From January 2006 until August 2006, Mr. Walsh served as Vice President and General Manager of Product Operations of Saba Software, Inc., a people management software provider, following its acquisition of Centra Software Inc. in January 2006. At Centra Software, a distance learning software provider, Mr. Walsh served as Senior Vice President, Products and Operations. Previously, Mr. Walsh also held senior leadership positions, InformTV and Avid Technology, Inc.

Mr. Walsh holds a B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from Boston University.
