Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Sharm El Sheikh Hotels Gain Highest Levels of Occupancy in Two Years

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 01/02/13 -- Recently released stats have shown that four and five-star hotels in Sharm El Sheikh managed to improve their occupancy rates by 16.3% to 79.4% overall in the month of October, which means that hotel occupancy rates in the Egyptian city are now at a two-year high.

Whilst this surge can partly be tied to people visiting the city during the religious festival of Eid, the truth is that the destination has been gaining in popularity with international visitors for quite some time, and it's easy to see why - there's a lot to do there!

The city's location on the edge of the Red Sea allows for both stunning views and underwater adventure, whilst the opportunity to snorkel next to a Red Sea Coral Reef attracts many people to the Ras Mohamed National Park. There are also more advanced dives available for more experienced underwater adventurers, and these alone are enough to attract many divers each year.

There's plenty to do for those who prefer to stay on land too, however. If you've ever wanted to experience an authentic Egyptian desert, there are plenty of excursions to the Sinai Desert from the city, and adrenaline junkies can even quad bike their way through the breath-taking landscape for added thrills.

Mount Sinai offers another once in a lifetime holiday opportunity - the site where Moses is thought to have been presented with the Ten Commandments in the Bible, Mount Sinai is located just a short distance from the centre of Sharm El Sheikh. If travellers set off early enough in the morning they can reach the summit by sunrise - offering unparalleled views and an unforgettable experience.

And if those attractions aren't enough, golfing fans will be pleased to know that the city is also home to a PGA Championship Golf Course, situated at the Jolie Ville resort.

Team the ancient Egyptian charm of Sharm el-Sheikh's traditional architecture with today's modern, metropolitan additions and a whole host of fantastic activities for holidaymakers, and you've got a truly unique destination. If you're in need of some fresh 2013 holiday ideas, why not follow in the footsteps of these droves of visitors and see what Sharm el-Sheikh can offer you?
