HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 01/09/13 -- Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation (NYSE: MHR) (NYSE MKT: MHR.PRC) (NYSE MKT: MHR.PRD) (NYSE MKT: MHR.PRE) (the "Company") announced today that the Company has appointed Chris Benton as Assistant Vice President of Finance and Capital Markets effective January 8, 2013. The Company's current Vice President of Capital Markets and Investor Relations, Gabe Scott, has been moved to a new role as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development for Eureka Hunter Pipeline, LLC ("Eureka Hunter"), a subsidiary of Magnum Hunter. Mr. Benton has become the primary contact for investor relations matters at the Company.

Mr. Benton has more than five years of banking and corporate finance experience in the energy industry with extensive capital markets experience in the upstream and midstream sector. Most recently, he worked at RBC Capital Markets as a Vice President in their energy corporate banking group and prior to that he was employed at Bank of Scotland. Mr. Benton holds a BA degree in Economics and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Scott joined Magnum Hunter in January 2011, where he has held several positions in the Company's finance department. He has over six years of corporate finance experience with increasing management responsibilities in the energy sector. His experience includes four years in Senior Financial Analyst positions with an energy-focused private equity firm and an international investment bank. Mr. Scott was a full scholarship recipient and four-year letterman in baseball at the University of Alabama, and received numerous honors and recognition such as serving as team co-captain for several years, being named an ESPN Academic All-American, recognized as the Outstanding Finance Undergraduate Student for two years, was a Paul Bear Bryant Student Athlete of the Year Finalist in 2005, a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American in 2005, and a First Team All-Southeastern Conference choice in 2005, amongst many other awards for his academic and athletic achievements.
