Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Truxton's Restaurant to Open in Westchester, Calif., July 24, 2006
Truxton's Restaurant to Open in Westchester, Calif., July 24, 2006

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/24/06 -- LA's premiere caterer, Tim Foley, owner of Red Carpet Catering, has teamed with local, seasoned restaurateur John Kaufman to create Truxton's, a new American bistro, scheduled to open in Westchester, Calif. on July 24, 2006. Foley has also worked for Famiglia Toscana Rosti, Houston's Restaurants, and St. Regis Resorts. Kaufman is the owner of Thyme Restaurant Consulting, and he played a key role in California Pizza Kitchen's growth from a single restaurant into one of the country's leading chains with more than 68 locations. He has also acted as Chief Operating Officer for Rosti and Koo Koo Roo.

Foley and Kaufman studied the Westchester area closely before building Truxton's, which is one of several new businesses to be an integral part of the city's revitalization. "The area has been developing quickly. With Trader Joe's, Bed, Bath and Beyond and other retail giants opening here and because it's just minutes from LAX, we thought this would be a perfect location to launch the first Truxton's," explained Foley. "Our mission is to offer a wide variety of classic and ethnic American dishes with a twist, at everyday prices. We believe that this, combined with our friendly, prompt service, will be the key to Truxton's success." After the launch, Foley and Kaufman plan to open five to six more locations within the next 18-36 months.

Truxton's will define a new genre of restaurant: "The American Bistro," where you can "eat the way you want to" from their no-veto menu, which reflects both classic recipes and ethnic fare inspired by Los Angeles' melting pot of diverse cultures. Furthermore, Truxton's will utilize local and regional vendors whenever possible, who live up to their "crate to plate" philosophy, serving everything from Spaghetti and Meatballs and Buttermilk Fried Chicken Skewers to Vietnamese Avocado Rolls and Thai Cobb Salad. Truxton's is introducing slow-roasted brisket and turkey and rotisserie chicken and desserts like "Childhood Memories," which features their rendition of a "Hostess" cupcake, "Rice Krispie Treats," and real Twinkies served with raspberry culee. Truxton's has a full bar and will soon offer a Sunday Champagne Brunch with hand-carved meat and omelet stations. Prices average from $8 to $15. "Truxton's will provide high-quality food and drinks at unseen prices," said Kaufman.

With its "California Cottage" design and "fun" menu, Truxton's is already becoming a part of the neighborhood and plans to cater to the LAX crowd, too. Proximity to the airport will attract people who want to plan events at Truxton's, which has a function room that can accommodate small or large groups. Truxton's will also offer complete take-home, delivery and catering service, including daily office drop-off meals and curbside pick-up service and special events. Foley and Kaufman plan to make Truxton's a true neighborhood restaurant through their involvement with charities, local events and business organizations, which they will do with subsequent restaurants they open.
