Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

ChemAxon's Chemicalize.org Extends PubChem Database With Crowd-Sourced Chemistry From the Web

BUDAPEST, Hungary and CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts, January 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

ChemAxon, a leader in providing chemistry software solutions and consulting services for life science research, announces that the crowd-sourced chemical structures gathered via its public website, chemicalize.org, have been deposited to the Pubchem repository, with approximately one third of the submission being novel. The provision also includes links to valuable structure-based data for each of the submitted structures.

chemicalize.org is a public website which extracts and displays chemical structures from users browsing of web pages and submitting other documents to the site. The service builds a database of all identified structures, which enables structure (and other) searching of gathered content.

Since chemicalize.org was started in spring 2009 we have gathered ~300,000 unique structures and inline with the aims of the service, to make chemistry more useful, we deposited the collection into PubChem, the world's largest free public chemistry database. From these ~300,000 structures ~100,000 structures were novel.

Continued growth and new users are essential to have a crowd-sourced database that is up-to-date and follows current interests. chemicalize.org has been growing well in recent months with 15,000 unique visitors/month in December, up 60% in the last 6 months.

We will continue to deposit updates to ensure the utility of the service to the community and to include a link back to chemicalize.org data pages where various structure-based calculated properties are presented.

The deposition is discussed in more detail at the ChemAxon blog; http://www.chemaxon.com/blog/chemicalize-orgs-crowdsourced-database/
