This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Canadian Fitness Guru Tommy Europe to Headline Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation's Bust a Move Ottawa on March 2, 2013

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/01/13 -- Bust a Move and the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation today announced that Canadian fitness guru, Tommy Europe has signed on as the celebrity fitness instructor for the March 2nd event at the Ottawa Athletic Club.

Europe replaces American actress/comedienne Jenny McCarthy. Following in the shoes of last year's celebrity guest, Richard Simmons, Tommy Europe will join the team at the Ottawa Athletic Club for this day of fun and fitness, which raises hundreds of thousands of dollars every year for women's breast health and cancer care in the local community.

Since Tuesday's announcement of the celebrity fitness instructor for the Bust a Move Ottawa, attention has shifted away from breast cancer awareness and fundraising.

"We are proud to work very closely with our partners in the medical community and the general public to raise funds and awareness for cancer care in our community. As always, our objective and responsibility is to the cancer survivors in our community and keeping the spotlight on our cause," says Linda Eagen, President and CEO of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. "On March 2nd, together with hundreds of men and women, we'll be celebrating an amazing event and we are thrilled that Tommy Europe will join us for Bust a Move Ottawa. "We know that this year's event will continue our tradition of fundraising successes that will help thousands of local cancer patients and their families."

Best known as host of, "The Last 10 Pounds Bootcamp," "Bulging Brides" and "Tommy Europe Fitness", Tommy is the country's most sought-after fitness coach. Tommy will join hundreds of participants as they "bust a move" during back-to-back expert-led fitness routines including the "Great Canadian" Kitchen Party with Tracy Cipryk; Dance Revolution (Zumba) with Gina Adams; Feel the Flow (Yoga) with Donna Davis; "BaM" (Kickboxing) Boxing Athletic Movement with Heather-Ann Bratty; and Urban Dance with Momentum Moves Canada.

Tommy will lead the BaM group through his SHRED boot camp - a challenging cardio workout based on his online fitness video program released in 2012, "Shred Bootcamp: 4 weeks to the new you".

Sponsorship dollars cover the costs of hosting the event, ensuring that 100% of what participants raise goes directly to the cause. Together we have already raised more than $114,000. It is not too late to get involved. Join the team at Bust a Move Ottawa on March 2nd by registering online at www.ottawacancer.ca or by making a donation online to help support this amazing event.

About Bust a Move:

In its first year Bust a Move Ottawa raised more than $349,000 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, with 100% of the funds raised invested in our community to improve regional cancer services.

About the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation:

Tommy Europe - Biography

Tommy earned his fitness credentials in the school of very hard knocks - as Professional football player. This 11 year veteran was a two time all-star defensive back in the Canadian Football League, well known for his bone crushing tackles which earned him a shot in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. He also played with the Montreal Alouettes, the Winnipeg Blue Bomber and won the Grey Cup as a BC Lion in 1994.

Tommy's athletic background has allowed him to understand and appreciate the movements of all sports. He has combined this knowledge along with 20 years experience as a Master trainer to develop his S.H.R.E.D. Training Philosophy. Tommy applies his philosophy to all of his workout programs in order to achieve a total body transformation. S.H.R.E.D. = Strength, Heart, Resilience, Efficient, Discipline

In 2009, he launched Tommy Europe TV, an online personal training community website where Tommy provides weekly blogs, chats with members and answers fitness questions. He also started connecting with his fans directly by going on tour offering his SHRED BOOTCAMPS across the country.

In September 2010, he was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame with the BC Lions team. In 2011, he released his first book "The 10 Pound Shred - From Flab to fit in Four weeks". It is a step by step plan to losing weight and inches in just 4 weeks, and includes nutrition advice and daily fitness programs.

In 2012 Tommy released his online fitness video program called "Shred Bootcamp: 4 weeks to the new you". There are 12 efficient and challenging video workouts, along with a seven-day meal plan, and seven shred fit cardio at home programs. Each workout takes 35-minutes to complete and they don't require equipment. The workouts are completely mobile, so you can play them on your smartphone or tablet computer; the exercises only require bodyweight, making it the perfect, Anytime...Anywhere...No excuses workout program!
