In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. Tarana Wireless Announces Prominent Company Advisors

Tarana Wireless, the market leader and pioneer in development of the first universal wireless small cell backhaul solution, today announced industry luminaries who are working closely to help guide the company’s success in the market. These individuals are wireless industry experts and thought leaders who bring business and market expertise, broad mobile carrier knowledge, and hands-on experience building successful companies.

Tarana Advisors are:

Arun Sarin - a 30-year wireless communications industry veteran and a senior advisor at private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR). He is the former chief executive officer of Vodafone Group plc and former chief executive officer and president of Airtouch. Sarin currently serves on the board of directors for Cisco Systems, Charles Schwab and Safeway, Inc.

”I have been a part of the dynamic evolution that has taken place in the wireless carrier industry over the past ten years with the unprecedented adoption of high-bandwidth mobile devices and applications. This phenomenon has caused mobile networks to become overwhelmed, accelerating the need for new ideas and innovation. I have been impressed with and am pleased to be helping guide the Tarana Wireless team as they bring their universal small cell backhaul system to market. I believe it will shatter the beliefs and barriers about wireless backhaul technology in addition to bridging a critical operational gap,” said Sarin.

Harald Braun – a Tarana board member and former president and chief executive officer of Aviat Networks. Previously Braun was president and CEO of Siemens Networks LLC USA; and held senior executive roles at Nokia Siemens Networks North America and BigBand Networks. Previously he served both as treasurer and as an executive board member for the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS).

“The innovation I have witnessed throughout the development of Tarana’s product line is unprecedented. The solution addresses a clear market need unmet by any other wireless system. I am excited to help introduce the Company and its products to the market,” said Braun.

Eric Brewer, Ph.D. - a professor over the past 20-years in computer science and technology at UC Berkeley and a Fellow at Google, Inc. Brewer co-founded and was chief scientist for Inktomi (acquired by Yahoo). He is globally recognized as an innovator and thought leader in network and Internet-based technology and research. His current research projects are focused on bringing technology (communications, health care, education, and e-government) to developing regions. Brewer also founded the Federal Search Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving consumer access to government information.

Brian Gardepe - a partner at Skyline Partners with over 30-years experience in the software and communications industry. Gardepe has held executive positions with Open Range Communications, Level 3 Communications, Corporate Software, Xerox, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), and Toshiba.

Scott Jones - chief executive officer of Nucleus Advisors with over 30 years in venture capital and technology management. He was founding managing director of Origin Partners; a general partner of Rothschild Ventures; and held operating roles at GE and Motorola. Jones is currently a board member and/or advisor to Analitiqa Corporation, Exsulin Corporation, and Audience Entertainment Group.

Bill Unger - as a partner emeritus of Mayfield Fund, and has been in the venture capital industry for 30 years. Prior to joining the Mayfield Fund, Unger was a founder of Positek, an executive search company for the high technology industry. In addition to advising early stage technology companies, he also serves as board chair of Samasource; board member of CARE USA; and a board member for The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. He is on the advisory boards for the Dean of Engineering of the University of Illinois, Chicago; Environmental Entrepreneurs; and is a past member/advisor to the Advisory Board of the Dean of Engineering at UC Berkeley; the Global Philanthropy Forum; and the Entrepreneurs Foundation.

Tarana Wireless will be publicly showcasing its solution for the first time at the 2013 Mobile World Congress, February 25-28 in Barcelona, Spain (Stand 6C94). This is the largest annual event attracting mobile industry executives and media from around the world.
