Dont underestimate the SLA's role in accountability. For companies that have dynamic requirements and no down time can be afforded, make sure you have very tight SLAs. For example, OpSource provides a 100% SLA in the cloud and 100%SLA around production application environments. Now 100% is ideally perfect, it comes down to accountability, yo...

Open Source Firm Black Duck Expands Reseller Network In Australia And NZ
OCS To Deliver ProtexIP Software Compliance Management Solution To Corporate And Legal Organizations

Black Duck Software, provider of software compliance management solutions, announced a partnership with Open Channel Solutions (OCS) to extend Black Duck's industry-leading protexIP platform to the Australian and New Zealand markets. OCS and its network of resellers, will distribute the protexIP software compliance management solution to enterprises, software developers, government agencies and law firms in Australia and New Zealand. The partnership with OCS comes on the heels of Black Duck's announcement of an alliance with Atos Origin, one of the largest European systems integrators.

The protexIP platform creates a collaborative environment that helps organizations manage increasingly complex software licensing policies and procedures. By validating software contents, verifying license compliance, and finding and addressing issues early in the development cycle or in advance of a due diligence event, protexIP helps companies reduce business risks, complete software projects on time and on budget, and stay on track with their business plans. Using protexIP, OCS and its resellers will be able to help customers efficiently identify, govern and manage multifaceted license obligations and resolve issues that may arise.

Doug Levin, founder and CEO of Black Duck Software, said: "Black Duck offers the only true software compliance management solution--one that allows developers, executives, lawyers and other team members to work together to bring to market software that is in full compliance with hundreds of complicated licenses. As such, protexIP is in demand by enterprises, due diligence teams and others who are looking to take full advantage of the benefits of using component-based development and open source software. Through OCS, we are extending our rapidly growing worldwide footprint to the Australia and New Zealand markets through a partner that customers in those countries know and trust."

"Black Duck's protexIP platform provides our network of resellers with increased opportunity to capitalize on the rising demand for software compliance management solutions," said Ed Rose, CEO of Open Channel Solutions. "We believe protexIP to be the most effective solution available for helping organizations manage complicated software licensing issues by validating software contents, so we are pleased to offer it to our customers."
