Agile, continuous delivery and DevOps have stepped in, but one crucial process still hasn't caught up

CA Technologies, Lingotek Bring Continuous Delivery to Global Technical Content Mobile, the cloud and data have upended traditional ways of doing business. Agile, continuous delivery and DevOps have stepped in to hasten product development, but one crucial process still hasn't caught up. Continuous content delivery is the missing limb of the success ecosystem. Currently workers spend countless, non-value add hours working in independent silos, hunting for versions, manually pushing documents between platforms, all while trying to manage the continuous update and flow of multilingual content. In an on-demand economy where content makes or breaks success, such manual processes are untenable. James Turcotte, SVP of Information Technologies at CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA), decided to take enterprise content management into his own hands -- by inventing DocOps, a new process that combines continuous delivery with document management, made possible in part by the integration of Lingotek's cloud-based Translation Management System (TMS) (see case study). "Most companies are living with a Technical Content Supply Chain from the Stone Age," said Turcotte. "DocOps is about creating a supply chain that is at its core collaborative and agile. Content is authored, updated, and delivered continually. As a living and dynamic thing, the DocOps platform enables an improved customer and brand experience, no matter where in the world your customers are." Using DocOps and the Lingotek TMS, CA Technologies was able to realize a 20% gain in efficiency. The company decreased non-value-add staff activities while increasing collaboration and quality. Workers can now make informed content decisions based on real-time data. On December 16, Lingotek and CA will be hosting a joint webinar that explores how DocOps works, why it's important and how it can benefit every enterprise. Topics include:
"CA Technologies is one of the most forward-thinking companies we work with when it comes to global document management," stated Rob Vandenberg, President and CEO of Lingotek. "Lingotek is proud to be a major part of the CA Technologies DocOps solution and looks forward to working with them on our continued projects." The webinar takes place at 12pm EST on December 16. Software Is Eating the World Companies that were not previously in the technology space now find themselves competing with Google and Amazon on the speed of innovation. As the innovation cycle accelerates, companies must embrace rapid and constant DevOps Summit Was a Terrific Event! ▸ Here NoOps != No Operations Shipping daily, injecting faults, and keeping an extremely high availability "without Ops"? Understand why NoOps does not mean no operations. Agile development methodologies require evolved operations to be successful. In his keynote at DevOps Summit Silicon Valley, David Tesar, Microsoft Technical Evangelist on Microsoft Azure and DevOps, discussed how Microsoft teams that have made huge progress with a DevOps transformation effectively utilize operations staff and how challenges were overcome. Regardless of whether you are a startup or a mature enterprise, whether you are using PaaS, Micro Services, or Containerization, walk away with some practical tips where Ops can make a significant impact working with the development teams. Operational teams and functions are increasingly more important as the industry delivers software at a blazing pace.
DevOps Is Even More Important Than You Think This Lunchtime Power Panel at DevOps Summit was moderated by Andi Mann, VP of Strategic Solutions at CA Technologies. Monish Sharma, VP of Customer Success at ElasticBox; Myles Steinhauser, Software Development Engineer at Blue Box; Victoria Livschitz, CEO of Qubell Inc.; and Mark Levy, Sr. Product Marketing Manager at Serena Software go beyond the basics in a discussion of why DevOps is not only important for transformation, but is mission-critical for enterprises that want to stay in business.
