Dr. Elson will work with Eclipsys senior executives to set the company's long-term clinical strategy and short-term priorities for Eclipsys solutions. Additionally, Elson will be responsible for executive-level and physician sales support.

Former Eclipsys CMO, Diane Gilbert Bradley, MD, now serves as the company's chief quality and outcomes officer, focusing on helping customers track and improve care quality and other outcomes using Eclipsys solutions. Dr. Elson has a long history working with clinical information technology, in both acute and ambulatory care settings, with a focus on providing practical solutions as well as bridging the gap between information technology and clinical organizations. Most recently, Elson was the founder of Clinical Systems Design, LLC, a healthcare information technology consultancy specializing in clinician adoption, computerized physician order entry (CPOE), ePrescribing, and health information exchange. Clinical Systems Design's clients have included some of today's leading healthcare organizations, including University Hospitals of Cleveland, the Cleveland Clinic, Pfizer, and the eHealth Initiative. Dr. Elson also has a strong academic background, and has been serving this past year as the Senior Researcher in Clinical Informatics at the MetroHealth Center for Healthcare Policy and Research in Cleveland.

Previously, Elson was the vice president, Medical Affairs at RxHub where he worked to publicize the role of pre-prescription connectivity in the emerging ambulatory care ePrescribing market. He was instrumental in defining and calling attention to the role of prescription claims history in prescription history reconciliation, a need recently highlighted by a new Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goal for Hospitals. Before RxHub, Elson was a vice president of Medical Affairs at McKesson Information Solutions, where he helped to spark the rapidly emerging markets for a variety of clinical information technology tools designed to improve medication safety, most notably CPOE.
