Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. Polarlake - A Forgotten SOA Vendor Needs a Crash Course on Media Relations
Competing against other Ireland-based SOA companies, Polarlake may need desperate public relations help

A Google News Search on "SOA" returns roughly 2,488 active SOA and Web Services news stories covering the time frame of the past 30 days, out of which only two of them reference Polarlake, the SOA vendor. The company issued only one press release (news) this year and the last news heard from this SOA vendor in Ireland was in November 2006.

A news seach on other Irish SOA vendors Cape Clear, and IONA both returned 54 Google News stories each for the past 30 day period.

While we were wondering what the reasons might be for a news shortage for Polalake, as compared to some of its competitors, an email we received at the "SOA World News Desk" may shed some light onto these questions. The company's management may need intensive training on "public relations"!

As many SOA vendors invest seriously in "media relations" with a sharp focus, we received the following email communication this morning from Huw Spiers of Polarlake.

Ms. Gonzalez,

You really have a short memory.

On 28 February, you promised to remove me from your mailing lists (bizarrely, along with "everyone from PolarLake") and yet you start dumping e-mail on me again.

Will you keep to your word this time?

Huw Spiers
