Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

DataMirror Expands SOA Offering
Provides full end-to-end data integration solution between databases and message queues to support SOA environments

DataMirror, a provider of real-time data integration and data protection solutions, now provides real-time end-to-end integration between databases and messaging infrastructure. Transformation Server/ES (Event Server) provides support for bi-directional data integration by sourcing large message volumes from relational databases, and message queues and applying the information to mission-critical databases and applications. New features of TS/ES now enable the product to process high volume 3rd party message structures directly from queues and parse and embed that data without programming into relational database formats.

"Companies can now fully integrate business data with any database or application," said Lucian Mustatea, Vice President, Development. "They can leverage their existing investments in databases and message architectures to unlock new business opportunities."

DataMirror's high-performance, native, log-based Change-Data-Capture technology integrates data in real-time from heterogeneous production systems without impacting system performance. In addition to providing real-time data integration between relational database systems, DataMirror now can transform a business transaction into an XML object and, based on business rules, dynamically route it to any number of message queues. To meet more complex requirements, business transactions can be augmented with information from additional business systems before being dynamically routed between queues.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a business-centric architectural approach that allows IT to define your business as a series of repeatable business processes, or services. Aligning business requirements with IT infrastructure is of critical importance to highly competitive organizations. Meeting this requirement requires the creation and integration of business information between disparate applications and information sources in heterogeneous environments. Enterprise Service Buses (ESBs) are an important component in SOA solutions as they not only provide a means of communication between independently designed applications, but they are also a critical and valuable source of real-time business information and event data.

DataMirror also now provides a graphical user interface that requires little or no programming, and lets customers source messages from messaging environments and apply the business transaction to different applications. Now any DataMirror or third party XML objects can be taken from the message queue and applied directly to applications or databases - connecting diverse applications and systems quickly and easily in real-time.
