(August 20, 2002) - Motorola, Inc. has announced an application certification model that allows certain third-party application publishers to certify applications from independent developers. Using criteria agreed upon by Motorola, these selected publishers can now certify applications at no cost to developers. These publishers include Micro Java Network, a leading independent J2METM technology development community, as well as JAMDAT Mobile, THQ, Gameloft, and Cybiko. "Motorola is focused on helping developers and publishers in the certification of new applications, thereby expanding the number of Java applications available to users," said Peter Aloumanis, vice president and general manager, U.S. Markets Division, Motorola's iDEN Subscriber Group. "This effort proves that collaboration among industry leaders can achieve faster development of compelling mobile solutions." Motorola's iDEN developer support program provides developers with virtually everything they need to develop, deploy, and commercialize their applications for J2ME technology-enabled handsets from Motorola, including tools, technical support, marketing, and distribution.
