In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. Crossbeam Systems and Trend Micro Launch Next Generation Content Gateway Solution for Web Threat Protection
Crossbeam Systems and Trend Micro Launch Next Generation Content Gateway Solution for Web Threat Protection

BOXBOROUGH, Mass. and CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossbeam Systems, Inc., the leader in network security solutions for the world's largest networks, and Trend Micro, Inc. , the leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, today launched the Next Generation Content Gateway (NGCG) Web threat protection solution for large networks. The capabilities of this new solution provide unparalled scale and availability while offering an integrated multi-layer approach for protecting the network from Web and Internet-based attacks, such as viruses, spyware, malicious Web sites and inappropriate Web content. Customers who have resisted scanning their Web-based traffic for adware, malware, and malicious spyware due to additional scaling requirements can now deploy additional security services without impacting the end user experience. Existing customers can easily deploy this solution into their security infrastructure without costly forklift upgrades; new customers can put an end to appliance sprawl and dramatically lower their total cost of ownership. This tightly integrated, multi-gigabit, low latency solution is available immediately on Crossbeam's X-Series security services switches.

Web sites are rapidly becoming the leading vector for infection and attacks. Additionally, Web browsing and Internet based applications have become a primary source of malware and other malicious content. The Crossbeam and Trend Micro consolidated Web security solution provides coordinated enterprise threat protection against these attack vectors by intelligently applying the right combination of URL filtering, malware scanning, reputation services, and botnet protection. Sitting in the network between the Internet and the enterprise's internal network and also between security domains within the enterprise, this solution provides unprecedented attack protection in an enterprise-class security platform. Its policies provide automated detection, prevention, and remediation of Web-based attacks without end user intervention, reducing management overhead and minimizing operational costs.

"Protecting against Web and Internet-based threats is a key challenge for large enterprises," said Tom Miller, vice president and general manager of Trend Micro(TM) Enterprise business unit. "Tightly integrated, optimized, and easy-to-manage security on a high performance, highly available platform that provides a proactive solution to these attacks is required. The NGCG solution that Crossbeam and Trend Micro have partnered to deliver clearly meets the requirements for large enterprises."

Crossbeam security switches deliver flexible, multi-dimensional scaling of network security in perimeter, core and data center architectures, allowing customers to radically drive up capacity while improving business continuity. Not only is the X-Series the highest performing platform, but it also has ample scale-out capacity via the simple addition of application processor blades. These platforms enable the seamless addition of best-of-breed security applications into each customer's network while providing a strong foundation for meeting future growth requirements - from business growth, to additional features and functions, and organizational growth through acquisitions, and more. In addition to this seamless solution and network deployment, the platforms add unique security and performance enhancements that make them ideal for creating combined solutions such as the NGCG offering. Large enterprises use the Crossbeam platforms to deliver a new generation of virtualized services such as firewall, intrusion prevention, and Web threat management while eliminating operational and capital expenses.

"Crossbeam's customers were asking for a Web security offering that provided the high performance and scale required to secure their networks in a solution that could be seamlessly and simply plugged into their network infrastructure," said Pete Fiore, president and CEO of Crossbeam Systems. "The next generation content gateway solution satisfies this need by providing customers with best-of-breed Web threat protection and the flexibility and scalability that only the Crossbeam X-Series architecture can offer."

Trend Micro's Interscan(TM) Web Security Suite has been tested and certified by Crossbeam's iBeam program, a revolutionary partner certification program that accelerates the testing cycle for independent software vendors (ISVs) by 90% and results in unprecedented choice and compatibility of security applications for customers running Crossbeam's security switches. Using carrier-class equipment in a highly flexible, interconnected test bed, iBeam is the industry's first testing environment that recreates the layered, core security architectures of large enterprise networks. iBeam's Integration and Certification Facility (ICF) enables 100% automation of ISV application configuration and testing, versus the industry norm of 10%-20%. It combines a team of dedicated engineers with a simple process and complete resources to ensure streamlined, quality-assured application integration for both ISVs and customers.

The Next Generation Content Gateway Web threat protection system is currently available for organizations to protect themselves from Internet and Web-based security threats while delivering exceptional levels of reliability, scalability, and performance.
