Virtualization Google Style
GDrive or virtual hard drive will essentially replace the disks on all those PCs out there
Dec. 4, 2007 03:45 AM
The Wall Street Journal made a big noise the other day with a story saying that Google is going into the storage business - free and paid - reprising those reports of a so-called GDrive or virtual hard drive that would essentially replace the disks on all those PCs out there. Google of course is already in the storage business but GDrive, or "My Stuff" or whatever it is, apparently involves a better interface that would make it feel almost local - or would if it also addresses how long it can take to upload and download stuff. The Journal's story raised issues of privacy, copyright and competition with Microsoft's budding Live Folders.
