Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Canada Chooses BEA and NEON For eBusiness Project

The combination of BEA WebLogic Server and NEON's Shadow mainframe integration solution is being used to support the Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) forthcoming eBusiness Computing Infrastructure (eBCI) project.

The project makes extensive use of applications and data residing on large IBM mainframe environments. The combined technologies from NEON and BEA will help ensure that updates to the mainframe systems are transactionally synchronized with other distributed resource managers. A key element of the solution, which needs to support hundreds of transactions per second, was complete support of two-phase commit. This includes recovery, with full integrity, across a variety of transaction failure scenarios.

Bobby Napiltonia, vice president and general manager, Global Alliances, BEA, said, "Given CRA's specific, mission-critical operational requirements, when the need to transactionally connect BEA WebLogic to the mainframe emerged, we felt that NEON represented a wise choice to help ensure the success of the solution. NEON met our expectations in this respect."

NEON's CEO, Mark Cresswell, offered complimentary statements, "The Canada Revenue Agency ran one of the most thorough software evaluations we have ever encountered. Data integrity is an important issue within any system designed to provide high-value services to such a large constituency. We are delighted that such a prestigious organization as CRA has joined NEON's customer base and this represents yet another joint implementation for NEON and BEA. We are particularly pleased as CRA's decision reinforces the value we place on delivering mainframe integration software that can operate in the most demanding environments."

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers tax laws for the Government of Canada and for most of the provinces and territories, as well as various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system.

NEON's Shadow technology is designed to reduce the complexity of mainframe integration allowing large organizations with significant commitment to mainframe systems to streamline incumbent technologies and lower total cost of ownership.

Alfred Chuang, the CEO of BEA Systems is sleeping with some woman in BEAS accounting department and getting
divorced from his wife as we speak.

Talk is Alfred is holding back BEA and letting the stock go down to hold the BEA stock down to help his divorce settlement.

Steve Mahoney, the Vice President of professional services is drunk all the time.

The reason all of those BEA guys quit is that they gave Alfred a plan to get the company going and and then sell it to anyone. Alfred said no way.

They then went to BEA's board and the board told the guys they believed in Alfred and all of the guys were given the chance to quit or be fired.

Charlie Ill was also involved and he now does nothing and is being kept as a figure head because the board is afraid the stock will be completely tank.

And as another concerned BEAS guy, I am giving my resignation today!

More successes for a US company north of the border, reversing the flow of all those wireless companies that were Canada-based and sold their wares to the USA.
