i-Technology News FyberSearch, The Little Search Engine Than Could
Offers More Advanced Features Than Large Engines

The recent activity among well-known search engines, which sees new features released almost daily, is having an effect on lesser known browsers. FyberSearch (www.fybersearch.com/) announced that it has upgraded its site with a redesigned relevancy algorithm, improved user interface and two new advanced search features. This is the second of two major updates that have been made to FyberSearch. More developments are to come but FyberSearch is now at a more competitive place in terms of the relevancy of search results and advanced features available to users. Before this point FyberSearch was not incorporating link popularity into its algorithm. Now that the technology to do this has been completed the FyberSearch results are more competitive than ever before. The two new advanced features that have been added are called "Search Type" and "Page Type". These additions give FyberSearch a total of 14 advanced features for searching the Web, more than most major search engines. Search type allows users to tell FyberSearch if they are looking for an official Web site or general information and as a result, FyberSearch will change its ranking algorithm to fit the user's information needs. Most, if not all search queries return one of these two types of information. The page type feature allows users to view only Web pages of a specific type such as a "contact us" page or a "faq" page. There have also been features added to improve the user experience at FyberSearch. The implementation of stop words has been improved so that users can choose to include them in their search by placing a plus sign in front of the word. If the only word in a search query is a stop word then FyberSearch will search for the word by default. Another helpful feature is that if a user searches for a URL and no results are found then FyberSearch will provide that user with a link to the URL instead. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
