SourceLabs has released the first of its AMP Stack, a certified distribution of open source infrastructure software that ensures customers scalability and security for demanding deployments. The SourceLabs AMP Stack integrates specially configured versions of popular open source projects (Apache, MySQL and PHP) that have been tested together as an integrated unit using the company's CERT7 dependability testing regimen. "The SourceLabs AMP Stack is a significant step towards our vision of dependable open source systems," said Byron Sebastian, CEO of SourceLabs. "While AMP is probably the fastest growing development platform in the market today, customers who want to deploy this software are forced to test and integrate the various components themselves and use the software without the dependability assurance enterprise customers typically require." SourceLabs CERT7 testing process addresses seven key areas that help ensure dependability of open source software. CERT7 augments the testing approaches that are typical of open source projects by adding tests that focuses on the performance, stability and scale characteristics of integrated systems. The SourceLabs AMP Stack has been tested and configured per three of the CERT7 dependability areas: security hardening, scalability, and unit functional testing, with additional CERT7 areas to follow. "SourceLabs is providing value in documenting and ensuring scalability of the AMP platform," said Jacob Taylor, co-founder and vice president of engineering of Sugar CRM, a popular open source CRM system that uses AMP technology. "We look forward to working with SourceLabs to understand the best ways for our customers to scale out their SugarCRM deployments on the SourceLabs AMP Stack." The SourceLabs AMP Stack is certified on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 3.2., and is the first of several integrated and tested integrated stacks SourceLabs plans on releasing, including a version of the AMP stack certified for Microsoft Windows. SourceLabs also announced the company will join MySQL Network Certified Partner Program and will begin reselling access to MySQL Network's premium benefits as part of its own tiered support and maintenance subscriptions later in 2005.
