Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. AppForge Introduces Data Sync, a Complete Solution for Data Synchronization between Mobile Devices and Enterprise Databases
Built on enterprise data synchronization technology from Intellisync Corporation, AppForge Data Sync supports AppForge Crossfire

ATLANTA, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- AppForge, Inc., a leader in multi- platform mobile and wireless application development solutions, today announced the introduction of AppForge Data Sync, a complete solution for data synchronization between market-leading mobile devices and industry-standard enterprise databases. AppForge Data Sync, built on enterprise data synchronization technology from Intellisync Corporation, the leader in wireless email and mobile applications for the enterprise, supports both the AppForge Crossfire(TM) and MobileVB(R) solutions, providing developers with the combined power of industry-leading data synchronization and mobile application development solutions.

Data Sync is designed to leverage the foundation of mobile application development from AppForge Crossfire 5.6. With the AppForge Data Sync SDK(TM) feature, developers have extensive control of the synchronization process from Crossfire or MobileVB and can easily augment their solutions to configure and access the underlying synchronization engine.

Other key features provide developers with secure, flexible data synchronization and remote data transfer capability, regardless of bandwidth or the reliability of network connections. Features such as bi-directional data synchronization ensure that changes and updates are reflected on both the device and the enterprise database. In addition, single-point client deployment capabilities automatically install all necessary supporting files on the device.

"Data synchronization is a top priority for our enterprise developer customers and the challenges can greatly impact development and deployment cycles," said Gary Warren, CEO, AppForge. "AppForge Data Sync helps developers overcome typical remote data transfer challenges to expedite efficient and rapid application development and deployment while leveraging the capabilities of our industry-leading technology."

Data Sync also offers flexible user authentication, client database support and encryption options. User authentication includes Windows NT or Active Directory, LDAP and Custom for developers to create security policies to fit their environment. Encryption options include FIPS 140-2 validated Triple DES, FIPS 140-2 validated AES, SSL and Certicom SSL Plus EE.

"Intellisync has a proven track record of providing advanced technology for extending wireless email and enterprise applications to a wide range of mobile devices," said Clyde Foster, Intellisync's chief operating officer. "By licensing enterprise data synchronization capabilities from our award-winning Intellisync(R) Mobile Suite(TM) platform, AppForge is able to combine our technology with its own highly regarded mobile application development tool to provide customers with an all-in-one solution."

Intellisync and AppForge entered into an OEM agreement in late 2004 to create AppForge Data Sync for the AppForge mobile application product line. "AppForge Data Sync is a powerful blend of our mobile application development technology and a leading data synchronization solution," said Sue Pinns, Vice President of Business Development, AppForge. "As we continue to evolve our offerings to meet the needs of our enterprise developer customers, we look to leverage premier solutions such as Intellisync's to extend our existing capabilities."
