EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., April 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MTS Systems Corporation today announced the release of ATLAS 1.5 software, an enhanced version of its model-based calibration tool for powertrain testing. Featuring enhanced schedule and table functions, as well as a more robust Test Manager, version 1.5 will further streamline engine calibration, ultimately reducing the time required in the process from months to days. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20020430/MTSCLOGO ) "The ATLAS software tool assists engine manufacturers who are under increasing pressure to meet tougher government-mandated emissions regulations, as well as increased customer expectations for durability, performance and fuel consumption," said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and chief executive officer. "Continuing enhancements to ATLAS reflect MTS' commitment to providing the most productive testing solutions available worldwide." ATLAS 1.5 software provides a powerful means of automating the engine mapping process. By incorporating Design of Experiments (DoE), and allowing the calibration engineer to re-use existing models, ATLAS shortens the engine development cycle while minimizing costs and maximizing resources. "The functionality enhancements in ATLAS 1.5 will enable test engineers to define testing strategies faster while integrating existing modules from their design groups," said George Shaw, MTS powertrain product marketing manager for data acquisition and control products. "The software provides the ability to modify test strategies in real-time while tests are still active."
