In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...
Mainsoft Announces Sharepoint Integrator for IBM Lotus Notes
Mainsoft Professional Services Can Also Build Composite Applications Across SharePoint Data and Java or .NET Applications

Mainsoft announced the release of its SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes. This add-on to IBM Lotus Notes 8, an Eclipsed-based Rich Client Platform based on Java, provides point-and-click access to Microsoft SharePoint content, including Word documents, Excel worksheets, and PowerPoint presentations, from within Notes. Mainsoft professional services can also build composite applications across SharePoint data and Java or .NET line-of-business applications.

“Today, many organizations rely on Windows SharePoint Services for basic document management and team collaboration because it is simple to deploy and easy to use through Microsoft Office,” said Yaacov Cohen, CEO of Mainsoft.  “With Mainsoft, IBM customers can give Notes users direct access to SharePoint content within Notes, without engaging in an expensive rip-and-replace strategy.”

Mainsoft’s SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes enables organizations to implement a coexistence strategy by integrating existing Lotus Notes installations and Microsoft SharePoint sites.

Notes users can:

  • Drag-and-drop Word documents, Excel worksheets, and PowerPoint presentations from a Notes sidebar into Lotus Notes emails, calendar appointments, and task lists.
  • Open Microsoft Office documents stored on SharePoint without leaving the Notes user interface.  Mainsoft maintains connectivity to the SharePoint server, allowing users to check-in or check-out documents and access version history and document workflows, like they have always done.
  • Drag-and-drop Microsoft Office documents to a sidebar inside Notes to update content in SharePoint document libraries.
  • Integrate SharePoint content into workflow mash-ups and composite applications with Java and .NET business applications.  Mainsoft professional services provide custom SharePoint integration into Lotus Notes.  Business users can, for example, access a customer list stored on a Windows SharePoint Services site; sort and filter this list by sales territory; plot the contacts on a Google map; and communicate the results to the enterprise CRM system, all from within Lotus Notes.
For more information on Mainsoft contact Danielle Matthews, at Mainsoft.
