Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

VMLogix Names New Vice Presidents of Marketing and Worldwide Sales
Experienced Enterprise Data Center Executives to Focus on Growing Opportunity for Virtual Lab Automation Solutions

VMLogix announced that Mark Pileski and Leandra Yanagawa have joined the company as vice president of marketing and vice president of worldwide sales, respectively. The two new executives bring extensive industry experience to VMLogix, and will help build the company's marketing and sales teams to address the growing interest in, and need for, virtual lab automation solutions.

"Both Mark and Leandra bring the track record, exceptional leadership, and industry knowledge required to help VMLogix become a leader in the fast-emerging virtual lab automation marketplace," said Sameer Dholakia, CEO at VMLogix. "With their experience at emerging and established technology companies, they have the skills required to help VMLogix build our presence and continue to grow in the U.S. and internationally."

Having spent more than 10 years helping grow software companies, Pileski brings a wealth of marketing experience to VMLogix. He was most recently director of corporate marketing for Novell, which he joined with the acquisition of PlateSpin. Pileski joined PlateSpin in January 2005 as one of the founding members of the PlateSpin marketing team and built an award-winning group which received an International Business Award for Best Marketing Organization in 2007. While at PlateSpin, the company grew exponentially due in part to the demand generation and marketing activities led by Pileski. Prior to PlateSpin, Pileski held marketing positions with a wide-range of technology companies including Cybermation, DataMirror Corporation, MGI Software Corporation, and Cedara Software.

"As the hypervisor gets commoditized and businesses get more educated on virtualization, they are looking for value-add applications on top of the virtualization platform. Such applications, like VMLogix LabManager, are designed for specific use cases and help companies unlock more value from their virtualization investments," said Pileski. "I'm excited to join the VMLogix team and raise the visibility of LabManager among our target markets."

As vice president of worldwide sales at VMLogix, Yanagawa will be responsible for leading direct and indirect sales efforts. For the past two years, she has acted as an executive advisor for several startup and venture capital projects focused on providing market assessment and defining sales strategies. Prior to this role, Yanagawa was vice president of inside sales for the EMC Software Division where she successfully rebuilt and developed an organization of more than 170 salespeople dedicated to prospecting, qualifying, closing, and renewing opportunities representing over $500 million in annual revenue. With more than 18 years of experience in software, hardware, and services, Yanagawa also has held senior field sales and management positions at Handspring, where she led a team that successfully launched major national retail and wireless carrier relationships for the Visor and Treo product lines.

"The opportunities for VMLogix in the U.S. and internationally are exceptional and seemingly endless," said Yanagawa. "The awareness and understanding of the opportunity to leverage virtualization for labs is increasing rapidly, and being a part of a company with enormous potential for growth and partnerships is extremely exciting."
