Moving up the stack to PaaS and SaaS the use of virtualisation may, as you say, be less required if you put lots of smarts into your software. A lot of software does not have those smarts and by utalising virtualisation of the layers below can manipulate existing software architectures to have more cloudy attributes through automation (eg run load balancers and deploy more servers automagically). Over time, as new investment in software at...

Cenzic Launches Its Strategic Advisory Board to Guide Virtualization Growth
Cenzic Announced the Formation of the Cenzic Web Application Security Advisory Board

Cenzic announced the formation of the Cenzic Web Application Security Strategic Advisory Board. Industry notables Lloyd Hession, former chief security officer at British Telecom Radianz, John Mitchell, professor of computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford University, Dr. Sachar Paulus, senior vice president of product security at SAP, Dan Schoenbaum, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development at Tripwire, and Craig Weinstock, partner at White Pine Consulting Group, have signed on to provide strategic and business guidance as company growth accelerates.

"We've seen a significant increase in business need for Web application security solutions across a wide range of industry sectors, as more organizations are using the Web to facilitate their business methods," said John Weinschenk, CEO of Cenzic. "As our company is starting to see tremendous growth with an established leadership, we have selected an elite group of individuals for our strategic advisory board. This group can add a lot of value in our strategic direction and help in our continued success."

The Strategic Advisory Board will help guide and influence Cenzic's growth strategy, critical partnerships, continued innovation and overall corporate direction.

Cenzic has continued to grow its business across various markets -- from banking to education to telecommunications -- where organizations are reaping the benefits of Cenzic's Web application security solutions. The application security industry is showing astounding growth of more than 100 percent year over year, and companies are starting to roll out solutions throughout their enterprises instead of on an ad-hoc strategy. Companies are now starting to focus on not only Web applications going through development or maintenance but also all the deployed Web applications using virtualization. Cenzic is already known as the innovative leader in the space with many new and dynamic solutions, such as its recent first-to-market integration with VMWare.

"Application security testing should be applied across the entire software lifecycle (SLC), from design to programming, to Q.A., to production, as vulnerabilities can transpire at each SLC phase," said Joseph Feiman, vice president and Gartner Fellow. "Adoption of application security testing technologies and practices should be a strategic objective in the enterprises' efforts to secure their mission-critical application assets."

"As members of Cenzic's Strategic Advisory Board, it is a great opportunity to interact with a diverse group of experienced individuals to discuss issues and influence the Web application security landscape which is experiencing unprecedented growth," said Dan Schoenbaum, vice president of business development and marketing at Tripwire and a founding Advisory Board member. "Cenzic is known as the innovative and dynamic leader in the industry and we are looking forward to collectively working to help guide the company's direction as it moves to new levels."
