Moving up the stack to PaaS and SaaS the use of virtualisation may, as you say, be less required if you put lots of smarts into your software. A lot of software does not have those smarts and by utalising virtualisation of the layers below can manipulate existing software architectures to have more cloudy attributes through automation (eg run load balancers and deploy more servers automagically). Over time, as new investment in software at...

iland Internet Solutions Signs with Telx for Data Center Suite in Dallas
¶ Key Highlights: ¶ -- iland signs with Telx for Data Center Suite at 8435 Stemmons Freeway in Dallas, Texas ¶ -- Custom suite is expandable and private to support iland's high availability VMware, IP and colocation services ¶

Telx, the Interconnection Company, announces it has leased a custom data center suite to iland Internet Solutions at 8435 Stemmons Freeway in Dallas. iland is a leading global provider of VMware VI Enterprise solutions, Managed Colocation and High Speed IP Bandwidth. This marks a significant iland presence with Telx in the Dallas market, second to their initial presence with Telx at 60 Hudson Street in New York.

This deal offers iland quality data center space coupled with the ability to provide their robust suite of solutions to the growing Telx customer base. iland Internet is a global solution provider with presence in over 50 markets in the US and Europe. iland provides services to more than 600 clients including Reuters, Music Nation, and Careerbuilder.com. Their offering includes highly available virtualized solutions hosted on a VMware VI Enterprise platform offering clients server consolidation, reduced operating costs, and cost-effective disaster recovery options. ilands fully redundant infrastructure provides redundancy at the hardware, network, and data center levels.

ilands full suite of managed IP and Data solutions include monitoring, managed router and firewall services, security, and IP bandwidth. iland can also provide clients multiple connectivity options from the data center to their office locations. This includes Ethernet, metro and intercity private lines, MPLS and IP VPN networks.

According to TeleGeography, Dallas is the 5th largest market in the US for colocation space. However, large quality space coupled with a choice of network providers is not prevalent. This makes Telxs facility at 8435 Stemmons a rare find in this market.

Telx is the ideal solution provider for iland in Dallas. commented Scott Sparvero, CEO of iland Internet Solutions. Telx provided us with a flexible, easy to use solution with a quick turn-up time. Now, Telxs customers can easily connect to ilands tier 1 IP providers. This is exactly what we were looking for.

The Telx Stemmons facility has the prefect combination of cost effective services, security and reliability for companies like Iland, commented Bill Kolman, Executive Vice President of Sales for Telx, Our ability to meet their timeline, coupled with our flexible product and service offerings, enable iland to ensure quality services to their end-users. Going forward, we have an excellent experienced team to support this effort. This is a win-win for both companies.

Telxs facility at 8435 Stemmons Freeway is interconnected seamlessly to Telxs facility at 2323 Bryan Street in Dallas. IP Connectivity and Managed services offered by iland Internet Solutions are now available to Telx customers in both locations.
