VMware Announces Resignation of Executive Vice President, Research and Development
Richard Sarwal Has Resigned In Order to Return to Oracle

VMware announced that Richard Sarwal, executive vice president, research and development, VMware, has resigned in order to return to Oracle Corporation. Sarwal joined VMware from Oracle in December 2007.
Paul Maritz, president and chief executive officer, VMware, said, "We thank Richard for his service and we wish him well in the future. I expect to announce organizational changes to replace Richard in due course."
Effective immediately, Stephen Herrod, Ph.D, CTO and senior vice president of R&D, VMware, will assume day-to-day responsibilities for VMware's research and development organization. Dr. Herrod has been with VMware since 2001.
