Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Lieberman Software Launches Server Virtualization Management Initiative
User Manager Pro Suite Earns Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V Certification

Lieberman Software's User Manager Pro Suite, a configuration management solution for Windows-powered servers and workstations, has achieved Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V certification. Several additional Lieberman Software products are scheduled for Microsoft's rigorous Hyper-V certification testing process.

"Lieberman Software shares with our enterprise customers the vision that virtualization is the future of the datacenter," said Philip Lieberman, president of Lieberman Software. "Hyper-V will help organizations reduce costs, ease deployment, improve manageability, and increase performance. User Manager Pro Suite is just the first of many Lieberman Software products that will support Hyper-V and ease our customers' migration to this new platform."

Server virtualization provides considerable economic benefits for large enterprises. It enables multiple operating systems to run on a single physical machine virtually, consolidating workloads of underutilized servers onto a smaller number of fully utilized systems. This reduction of physical machines can lower costs by reducing hardware, energy, and management overhead, while expanding the actual IT infrastructure and productivity.

About User Manager Pro Suite
User Manager Pro Suite can control the groups, users, passwords, registries, policies, audit settings, and rights of these virtual systems collectively. It can also generate real-time, interactive reports for all collected system data. This multi-threaded solution centrally administers thousands of systems without requiring agents to be deployed to clients. The suite consists of flagship product User Manager Pro, along with Random Password Generator, Password Recovery Console, Web Reporting, and NTFS Permissions Reporting.

Benefits of User Manager Pro Suite include oversight control of the IT infrastructure, identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities, and resolving Windows system problems as they arise. User Manager Pro Suite also provides an effective method to maintain regulatory compliance standards, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI, and HIPAA.

Hyper-V Certification Testing
"Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V delivers a powerful server virtualization solution providing customers with a familiar user experience and the potential for a lower total cost of ownership and quicker ROI," said David Greschler, director of integrated virtualization strategy, Microsoft Corp. "We're pleased companies such as Lieberman Software with their User Manager Pro Suite, are expanding the breadth of offerings available to customers utilizing Microsoft's virtualization technologies."

Hyper-V certification testing for User Manager Pro Suite was conducted by an authorized, independent testing provider. Microsoft designed the Certified for Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V logo program to verify that third-party applications meet standards for security, reliability, and compatibility when running on the new virtual platform.

Among management vendors, Lieberman Software already has the most applications certified for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista. Hyper-V certification is the latest effort in the company's initiative of providing proven, scalable solutions for enterprise-level organizations. The next Lieberman Software products that will undergo Hyper-V testing are Enterprise Random Password Manager and Random Password Manager.
