Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Toshiba Announces Large Venue Projector with DynamicBlack(TM) Technology
¶ Toshiba's TDP-WX5400U Projector Offers Dual Lamps Interchangeable Color Wheel and Wide Resolution Technologies

A leader in creating innovative mobile computing products, Toshibas Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the launch of the large venue TDP-WX5400U projector with DynamicBlack(TM) technology to offer incredible contrast in images and video, with darker elements providing a superior black image. The TDP-WX5400U with DLP(R) BrilliantColor(TM) technology is covered by Toshibas three-year standard limited warranty(1) and is available for the competitive price of $6,299 (MSRP) (2).

Toshibas TDP-WX5400U also offers the following leading-edge technologies: dual-lamps, an optional interchangeable color wheel, wide resolution, five optional lenses, automatic vertical and horizontal keystone correction, filter-free design, enhanced security features and extensive connectivity options.

Toshibas TDP-WX5400U projector provides stunning image quality and color performance with its two interchangeable color wheels for impressive image color or maximum brightness, said Jane Poon, product marketing manager, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. The projector is designed for ultimate versatility in challenging environments for the Pro AV and House of Worship installations the projector comes with Toshibas three-year standard limited warranty(1) and is built to be reliable and affordable.

The Toshiba TDP-WX5400U projector includes the following leading-edge technologies:

  • Dual lamps: The TDP-WX5400U offers a dual-lamp system to increase brightness if used at the same time. With both lamps in operation at the same time, you can reach a brightness of 5,400 ANSI lumens; when using a single lamp, 2,700 ANSI lumens is achievable. Dual lamps eliminate down time and interruption if a lamp burns out during a presentation.
  • Optional interchangeable color wheel: To maximize the projectors color or brightness in a variety of display settings, the Toshiba TLP-WX5400U comes equipped with two interchangeable color wheels - a six-segment color wheel (RGBCMY) and a standard four-segment color wheel (RGBW).
  • Wide resolution: This feature is offered at WXGA 1280 x 800 with a 16:10 aspect ratio to offer more viewing and work space than a traditional 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • Automatic Vertical and Horizontal Keystone Correction: This feature instantly projects a square image even when the projector is placed at a steep offset angle: +/- 40 degrees automatic vertical keystone correction and +/- 35 degrees automatic horizontal keystone correction.
  • Filter-Free Design: This technology keeps damaging dust particles from collecting on the projectors imaging elements and assists in reducing the cost of ownership by requiring one less part to replace, less maintenance and by extending the projectors lamp life.
  • DLP(R) BrilliantColor(TM): This technology utilizes up to six separate colors: red, blue, green, cyan, yellow and magenta to allow for more accurate and vibrant colors that wont fade over time. Brilliant Color technology also enables a 50 percent increase in brightness of colors for both color fidelity and performance.
  • Security Features: The TDP-WX5400U includes password protection, projection lens lock and a Kensington lock for enhanced security for professional presenters.
  • Extensive Connectivity Options: The HDTV-compatible TDP-WX5400U comes with a variety of inputs and outputs for high-end multimedia presentations, including DVI-D (with HDCP: High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection), RGB (D-sub 15-pin), 5 BNC {x1}), component video, audio-in (for Video and PC), S-video and composite video. It also comes with two three-watt stereo speakers, one RGB (D-sub 15-pin), and audio out, one mini-jack for screen trigger, one RS-232 (D-sub 9-pin) and RJ45 for control.
