Unlike Chrome, litlOS is focused on creating a new and better web experience for the home, so we don't have the usual browser interface, we have our own innovative UI. In conjunction with easel mode (litl's inverted-V position) and our growing cohort of litl channels (special apps t...

Intel Using Organic Motion Technology to Unveil New Core i7 Processor

The Intel Corporation (NYSE: INTC) has selected Organic Motion to demonstrate the incredible power of the new Core i7 Processor during Intel’s launch event. The new Core i7 processors represent the next step in energy efficiency, performance, and dynamic scalability. To display the full potential of Intel’s latest chip, Organic Motion’s STAGE™ system will be used during the keynote speech to provide a live gesture driven experience. The demonstration will showcase a 3D avatar mimicking the exact movements of anyone who steps inside Organic Motion’s breakthrough system. Following the address, attendees at the event will also have the opportunity to step inside, and drive an animated character using their own natural body motions.

Organic Motion’s computer vision technology presents a key building block in the development of next generation computer interfaces. The company’s markerless solution uses high-performance workstations and a series of cameras, to make computers “see” and understand the range of human gestures, activities and dimensions – without depending on tracking devices of any kind. Organic Motion’s technology is already being used in a number of real world applications, including retail sales, sports training, medical analysis and immersive virtual reality pods. The technology is even poised to empower the next generation of video games, in which players can control avatars and characters by simply moving their own body.

"At Intel, we are always working to improve processor performance, but for the innovators like Organic Motion, the processor performance enables them to show an amazing vision of the digital interactive future," said Patrick Gelsinger, senior vice president and co-general manager of Intel Corporation's Digital Enterprise Group. "Organic Motion has developed the next generation of technology that demands the most advanced processors, and it is ideal to showcase the capabilities and scalability of the Nehalem microarchitecture."

Previously, at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Intel called upon Organic Motion to participate in CEO Paul Otellini’s keynote speech. Mr. Otellini and the popular band Smashmouth relied on Organic Motion’s STAGE system to show the future of Internet collaboration. While Smashmouth band members played in separate locations, Organic Motion’s STAGE instantly digitized the band’s motion and streamed it real-time into a virtual location, allowing the band to play as lifelike animated characters in a 3D virtual garage.

“We’re honored to once again join Intel in demonstrating how advances in processor power are driving next generation computer interfaces,” said Andrew Tschesnok, CEO, Organic Motion. “Moore’s law seems to have reached a tipping point where new algorithms take advantage of incredible processing power, making it possible for computers to leap forward and actually see and understand human motion. These new interfaces will drive an increased need for ever faster and more powerful computers to enable interactive, intelligent applications that benefit consumers and industries of all types.”
