Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

CTB/McGraw-Hill's Writing Roadmap Online Assessment Passes California Learning Resource Network Review

Approval Demonstrates Writing Roadmap Meets California State Board of Education Standards

MONTEREY, Calif., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- CTB/McGraw-Hill, a national leader in K-12 and adult education assessment solutions, today announced that its premiere Web-based classroom writing assessment solution Writing Roadmap(TM) has been reviewed and approved by the California Learning Resource Network (CLRN). CLRN approval demonstrates that Writing Roadmap meets the California State Board of Education review criteria for Standards Alignment, Legal Compliance, and Minimum Requirements.

Writing Roadmap is a powerful online essay assessment system using artificial intelligence to assess the writing skills of students in Grades 3-12. It streamlines instruction, delivers instant feedback, and saves teachers valuable time.

"The CLRN approval verifies that Writing Roadmap meets California's standards for educational software and electronic learning resources," said Ellen Haley, president of CTB/McGraw-Hill. "Inclusion in the CLRN resource database makes it easy for educators to find approved resources and take the steps to incorporate them into their learning programs."

CLRN provides educators with the information they need to make informed decisions about the selection, procurement and use of electronic learning resources. Approval by CLRN demonstrates that Writing Roadmap is aligned to the California Content Standards, and can be used in the State to support and enhance standards-based learning. CLRN maintains an interactive Web site to provide educators with information and assistance on electronic learning resources. With this approval, Writing Roadmap is now included in the CLRN searchable resource database at www.clrn.org.

Writing Roadmap is an all-in-one writing toolkit, delivering reliable automated grading and reporting, along with diagnostic assistance, to both teachers and students. Writing Roadmap's online tools - Tutor, Hint, Grammar Tree, Spell Checker, and Thesaurus - provide students with feedback as they go, while automatically generated scores enable them to make immediate revisions. Essays are evaluated along the most important writing dimensions - Ideas and Content, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Conventions, and Fluency. Graphic reports provide an analytic roadmap to guide instruction, and move students toward the goal of meeting school and state writing standards. Writing Roadmap improves instruction and gives students the practice they need to build writing skills and confidence. For more information, visit www.CTB.com/writingroadmap.
