Atari's Got 21st Century Game

It's 2005, not 1975, and Atari is in the News

The phrase "Atari Democrat," once symbolizing a new, cool age driven by technology and the politicians who understood it, is as hip today as a wool dickie or Vitalis.

Yet the Atari company, the one that started it all, remains a player in the world of computer games. Now owned by a French company, Atari's newest game is based on Dungeons and Dragons and will be called "Dragonshard."

It'sone of the first games to be developed using NovodeX Physics software, a technology from Silicon Valley company AGEIA, which is "dedicated to delivering pervasive interactive reality to next-generation games," according to an official release.

AGEIA further states that "NovodeX is the only SDK equipped for the future of hardware-accelerated physics based on the AGEIA PhysX chip. The NovodeX Physics SDK is also the only multithreaded physics API that will unleash the power of multiprocessor systems."

There's hope for us all.
