rlebherz wrote: Alf, Interesting article. I think the Cloud services and cloud infrastructure lines are a bit blurred, but I agree with most of what you are saying. Dont underestimate the SLA's role in accountability. For companies that have dynamic requirements and no down time can be afforded, make sure you have very tight SLAs. For example, OpSource provides a 100% SLA in the cloud and 100%SLA around production application environments. Now 100% is ideally perfect, it comes down to accountability, yo...

Marin Montessori School Selects NCP Engineering for IPSec VPN Client Software
School's Remote Network Access Secured With Innovative Solution That Offers Universal Hardware Compatibility

BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/14/09 -- California-based Marin Montessori School (http://www.marinmontessori.org) has selected NCP engineering GmbH (http://www.ncp-e.com) as its sole provider for remote network access end-point security. After an evaluation of available IPSec VPN software, the school chose to adopt the NCP Secure Entry Client for its compatibility with both Windows Vista 64-bit and third-party VPN gateways.

"Our faculty and staff often work outside of school -- requiring secure access of the network from home, while travelling, or in coffee shops," said Zarko Darganic, IT manager, Marin Montessori School. "NCP had the best, most flexible VPN client software we could find. It was easy to configure and operate, faster, and more stable and compatible than other solutions we tried."

Powerful encryption enables remote staff to access the network from anywhere and seamless compatibility with existing network infrastructure allows Marin Montessori School to avoid any disruptions to service. Through the NCP Secure Entry Client, the school is provided:

1. A single software solution that provides ease-of-use for both the school's staff and its IT managers by integrating strong data encryption, and one-time password token and certificate support through a public key infrastructure (PKI).

2. The unique assurance that data packets are not sent until a safe network has been detected, with Friendly Net Detection, created by NCP engineering. Configuration and policy logic are easily set, and managed centrally or through the NCP Secure Entry Client itself.

3. A dynamic firewall that allows Marin Montessori School to set policies for ports, IP addresses and segments, as well as applications. The firewall can work in conjunction with or replace existing ones -- the choice is the users.

For more information about the NCP Secure Entry Client, please visit http://www.ncp-e.com/en/vpn-scenarios-products/vpn-products/secure-entry-client.html. A 30-day trial version offering unrestricted use is available online at http://www.ncp-e.com/en/downloads/software.html.
